Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing health, safety, and environmental programs to meet regional objectives. You will collaborate with global teams to drive continuous improvement in policies and procedures, and coach sites on hazard and risk controls through procedures, engineering controls, and education. You will solve non-routine health, safety, and sustainability problems while standardizing best practices. Additionally, you will lead or participate in regional audits to ensure compliance and preparedness, mentor local site resources to foster growth and professional development, support severe incident investigations to ensure reporting obligations are met, and manage and evaluate regional suppliers and consultants to enhance program effectiveness.

In this role you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Program Implementation: Provide hands-on support to regional sites for the implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs, initiatives, and tools to achieve regional objectives and targets.
  • Global Collaboration: Represent the region when collaborating and working with global teams to drive continuous improvement through program, policy, and procedure development.
  • Coaching and Development: Coach sites in the implementation of health, safety, environmental, and sustainability hazard and risk controls through the development of procedures and other administrative controls, engineering controls, education, and awareness programs.
  • Problem Solving: Solve non-routine and common health, safety, environment, and sustainability problems across the region while driving standardization and best practice implementation.
  • Audits: Lead or participate in regional health, safety, environment, and sustainability audits. Support sites before and after audits to ensure audit preparedness and conformance.
  • Mentorship: Coach and mentor local site health, safety, environment, and sustainability resources, identifying opportunities for growth and professional development.
  • Incident Investigation: Provide hands-on support to contribute to the local incident investigation of severe incidents while meeting reporting obligations.
  • Supplier Management: Lead the management and evaluation of regional health, safety, environment, and sustainability suppliers and consultants.
  • Communication: Execute health, safety, environment, and sustainability communication objectives to achieve the global communication strategy.
  • Travel Management: Travel routinely to sites within the region and manage all aspects of travel.

HSE Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis

  • Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence-based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting, and avoiding repeated incidents.

Risk Control Implementation

  • Selects and implements risk control methods by utilizing the hierarchy of controls to implement sustainable control measures to protect people by reducing overall risks to as low as reasonably practicable.

Risk Assessment

  • Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

Valuing Differences

  • Recognizes the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization. Education, Licenses, Certifications: Bachelor's Degree or university equivalent required. Health and Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Experience: Significant relevant HSE experience required. 5-7 years of experience. Previous experience working across various countries within the region preferred. Progress toward professional certification, preferred.
