DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented FSC Off-shift Controls Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in Finance for Cummins, Inc. in Columbus, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Develop and design control systems; create and implement bench tests to ensure system functionality.
- Alter software and equipment; ensure sensors and actuators function according to specifications; support and debug complex issues and change requests.
- Prepare cost estimates; compile necessary cost and equipment information and write and review appropriation requests.
- Investigate project problems and requirements and develop plans for solutions considering economic, personnel, and environmental factors.
- May be responsible for installing and providing technical support for PLC-based hardware and software, ensuring proper installation and ongoing support for PLC systems.
- Coach and mentor less experienced Controls Engineers and provide guidance and support to junior team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Controls Engineering Knowledge - Your ability to specify, review, and approve designs for new or upgraded equipment will be crucial. This involves ensuring that all controls hardware and software integrate seamlessly with manufacturing systems. Staying updated with the latest technologies and industry standards will help you make informed decisions.
- Controls Networking - Implementing new technologies and methods to transfer information efficiently is essential. You'll need to link machines and analyze processes to enhance overall operations. Being proficient in networking protocols and data management will be beneficial.
- Electrical System Troubleshooting - Your skills in analyzing and resolving electrical issues will be vital to maintaining proper system operations. Quick and accurate troubleshooting will minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.
- Factory Automation and Control Systems - Implementing automation changes using the latest technology and programming techniques will optimize manufacturing processes. Identifying the necessary materials and resources for project completion will be key to achieving the desired level of automation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- This is an onsite role.
- 5-10 years of experience required.
- This role is the responsible for Controls engineering covering 2nd and 3rd shift (8pm to 4 am) at Fuel Systems Columbus Plant.
- Person should have experience in trouble shooting various types of controls like Siemens, Allan Bradley Fanuc etc. in precision machining and assembly environment.
- Person will be responsible for capability building of electricians.
