DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Remote Field service technician to join our team in Thunder Bay.
If you are a Red seal certified Field service technician who can plan and organize service calls relating to travel, accommodations booking, parts coordination etc. we want to hear from you !
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on engines and related components at the customer site with minimal direction.
- Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
- Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.
- Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engine and related components in the field.
- Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
- Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
- Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
- Identifies additional service opportunities with customer.
- Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Red seal certification
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
Locally valid driving permit.
NORCAT certification is an asset.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Minimal level of workshop related experience required.
Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Basic electrical knowledge is also an asset
The ideal candidate should process following attributes:
- Good communication and soft skills - customer facing position.
- Ability to convey complex technical information in plain language.
- Willing and able to work in various locations from Winnipeg to Thunder bay in a field service technician role.
- Assist with mine site, other branch location and department operations support backfilling during vacation and high demands for labour.
- Maintain electronic log book for hours in accordance with NSC.
- Complete all task related documentation as part of the individual job daily.
- Maintain service vehicle in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
- Ensure dress and deportment represents the Cummins brand and expectations - these will be explained and set as part of the successful candidates onboarding.
- Able to work overtime hours including weekends to support customer needs.
- After-hours rotational on-call for two week periods of time.
- Ensure all calls for service are channeled through the home location Field Service Office for scheduling, coordination and customer relationship building.
- Willing to travel to attend formal in-class training.
- Accountable, reliable, dependable.
- Hand tools - must process a basic set of technician hand tools.
- Cummins engine diagnostics and repairs would be an asset.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 430pm
This position is eligible to a 5000$ sign on bonus !
