- Develop high voltage components for rail electrification (e.g., pantographs, VCBs, cabling routing, lightning arrestors) and have past experience in the same.
- Develop interfacing and integration requirements for traction converters, auxiliary converters, and various subsystems used in MEMUs, EMUs, and Vande Bharat.
- Design electrical schemes and handle customer interactions (RDSO, Rail Board, and Production Units of Railways) for obtaining approvals.
- Conduct combined system test activities both at the plant and in the field.
- Understand and implement test protocols of rail standards.
- Prepare technical documents for various subsystems for submission for rail equipment.
- Possess a strong understanding of industry EN standards and safety regulations, with knowledge of EMI & EMC compliance and mitigation methods being an added advantage.
- Prepare cable lists and develop layouts for cable and interior harnessing, including underframe designs for rail applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Competencies:
- Electrical Design of Electrical Systems : Specifies components for electronic controllers; applies electronic controllers; creates electrical systems or architecture concepts through specific knowledge of electrified (or electrical-based) systems to ensure a system design that adheres to both Cummins' and customer expectations.
- Design and Application of Mechatronics Systems : Specifies electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems; applies electronic hardware and interconnections in Cummins' products.
- Mechanical Design of Electrical Systems : Creates electrical system or electronics-based design or architecture concepts through specific knowledge of electrified (or electrical-based) systems to ensure a system design that adheres to both Cummins' and customer expectations.
- Product Failure Mode Avoidance : Mitigates potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritized potential failure modes and potential failure causes for the system of interest to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of Cummins' products.
- Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis : Impacts product design decisions through the utilization and/or interpretation of computational tools and methods that predict the capability of a product's function relative to its system, subsystem, and/or component level requirements.
- Product Problem Solving : Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
- Product Verification and Validation Management : Develops product systems validation plans from various inputs to identify failure modes, manage product risk, and prioritize; negotiates product requirements against capability to guide project scope; evaluates analytical, simulation, and physical test results to verify product capability and validate requirements; assesses legacy versus proposed system solution capabilities and produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
- Builds Networks : Effectively builds formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization.
