Description

We are looking for a talented Electrolyzer Field Safety Engineer / Specialist - North America to join our team for our Accelera Business Unit in Mississauga, Canada. This position will require 70% travel including being gone up to 2 weeks at a time. Must be able to travel within the US and Canada.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Manages, develops, and implements project(s) of varying complexity and size in assigned functional area. Partners with business stakeholders to ensure a successful project completion.
  • Leads multiple projects from inception to completion; facilitates project planning sessions with internal stakeholders to determine the scope and objectives of each project; works with business stakeholders to establish project performance goals; designs project plan, develops timeline, identifies project milestones, and tracks performance against performance goals and timeline.
  • Identifies, tracks, and works with others to resolve project issues.
  • Monitors and communicates project status to project team.
  • Plans and monitors project budget, conducts research and analysis; provides input into the design and development of project plans and timelines.
  • Manages commissioning & project risk at the customer site and works with others on the team and outside the team to identify alternatives or solutions with RAGAGEP (Registered & good engineering practices) or with the use of standards and codes.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to improve health and safety to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.

Implementation of Risk Controls - Selects and implements risk control methods by utilizing the hierarchy of controls to implement sustainable control measures to protect people by reducing overall risks to as low as reasonably practicable.

Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy, and protect employees and the environment.

Project Management - Establishes and maintains the balance of scope, schedule, and resources for a temporary effort (a "project").

Education, Licenses, Certifications
  • College, university, or equivalent degree in engineering required.
Experience/Additional Information
  • 5 Yrs. Oil/gas industry experience is required along with hands on work experience in Commissioning, Operations of hydrogen & utilities (N2, O2, Chiller systems, steam & boilers) processing units or other high pressure & flammable gaseous processing units and safety systems like PSSR, HSE audits. Project experience is plus.
  • This position requires 70% travel to visit electrolysis facilities for safety audits, training sessions, and emergency response support for commissioning and PMO team.
  • The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrolysis systems, co-ordination with commissioning team and PMO for safety requirements while contributing towards the overall success of our organization and the safety of our employees and the environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations -OHSA, CSA, TSSA, TSBC, codes - NFPA, BNQ, ANSI, ASME and standards applicable to electrolysis systems - ISO, CGA, API, EIGA, AIGA.
