DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented CNC Skilled Machinist - 3 rd shift to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fletcher, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  1. Manufacturing Expertise : Utilize your skills in analyzing, designing, and manufacturing complex components with machine tool equipment to ensure high-quality production.
  2. Safety Leadership : Adhere to and promote Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards, ensuring a safe working environment by reporting hazards and using appropriate protective equipment.
  3. Quality Assurance : Apply high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship, perform quality inspections, and support equipment failure analysis to maintain product excellence.
  4. Operational Efficiency : Set up and operate various machine tools, including CNC equipment, to meet production specifications and goals, ensuring efficient and precise manufacturing processes.
  5. Team Coordination : Act as a formal resource, leading and coordinating team members, especially those with less experience, to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  6. Continuous Improvement : Engage in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, identifying and implementing solutions to improve quality, safety, and process efficiency.
  7. Environmental Responsibility : Recognize and minimize the environmental impact of your work by adhering to environmental standards and correcting hazards within your control.
  8. Professional Development : Participate in ongoing training and personal development to stay aligned with business requirements and enhance your skills and knowledge.

Education:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Overview:

This position is responsible for the safe setup, operation, inspection and operator maintenance of various machining work-centers in the carrier components department, including operating integrated production cells, auto gaging, auto load/unload via robot and CNC equipment. Position is responsible to produce components that meet and/or exceed Meritor design engineering specifications, while meeting standard productivity cost and delivery targets. Position will be able to perform changeovers, setups, recognize machining issues and make machine/process adjustments as needed, problem solving, support training and identify improvement opportunities for both robots and machines.

Flexibility is required as this position will have to operate various work-centers that will be required for production as needed.

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience in using quality inspection and work instructions to ensure product quality

• Must have a working knowledge of CNC controls (Okuma/Fanuc)

• General knowledge of G & M codes

• Must demonstrate handling & use of precision measuring gauges

• Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude for tooling change overs

• General knowledge of carbide inserts and drills
