We are looking for a talented Battery Welding Specialist to join our team specializing in engineering for our corporate office in Columbus, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Problem Investigation and Resolution : Lead investigations into material and material processing problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend actions, and document results, ensuring effective problem resolution.
Process Improvement : Apply and enhance processes such as material validation, quality auditing, design validation, and 7-step problem solving, using tools and techniques for material characterization, testing, and data analysis to support high-quality decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration : Obtain input and negotiate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering functions, as well as industry peers, to deliver material and processing solutions that drive customer success.
Decision-Making : Make informed decisions regarding material selection, development, qualification, and inspection, impacting product quality, reliability, durability, and capability.
Standards and Specifications : Create, improve, and apply material specifications and standards, ensuring they meet capability and quality requirements.
Project Leadership : Provide independent leadership for smaller projects or complex components, delivering established and emerging work processes and systems with full accountability.
Work Process Development : Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems within a functional discipline area, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
Knowledge Transfer and Mentorship : Coordinate and direct work among technicians and temporary employees, assist in knowledge transfer to less experienced engineers, and provide guidance to influence technical direction within project teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Statistical Analysis and Problem Solving : Apply principles of statistical methods to analyze technical data and solve problems using systematic analysis processes, ensuring robust, data-based solutions.
Material and Process Expertise : Demonstrate proficiency in component failure analysis, material and process selection, and material characterization to ensure product reliability and quality.
Effective Communication and Documentation : Develop and deliver clear communications tailored to different audiences, and document technical information to facilitate knowledge transfer and improve productivity.
Building Networks and Driving Results : Build strong relationships within and outside the organization, make timely decisions, and consistently achieve results, even in complex and challenging situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
Additional Details:
Experience of Welding Codes - Interprets the codes in the welding industry by using the right code within an operation in a design for technical and manufacturing to be compliant with industry regulations.
Experience of Welding Processes - Demonstrates experience of the multiple welding processes used within the organization by properly designing for the appropriate manufacturing process to produce process robustness for quality and cost effectiveness.
Experience of Welding Automation - Identifies the proper types of automated welding processes to be used by integrating them into the design, and process control in the manufacturing of a part or component to ensure quality into the process.
Welding definition - Experience in defining welded joint requirements and design of experiment (DoE) plans to develop the welding parameters.
Drawing Interpretation - Integrates product design and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to support the design and development of an optimal manufacturing process that meets product design specifications.
