We are looking for a talented Accountant to join our team for our Distribution Unit in Canada (Applicants must reside near a Cummins branch, as this is a hybrid role )

Job Summary:

Responsible for general accounting work required to maintain the department's general ledger. Performs financial analysis of the department's chart of accounts and financial statements by identifying and analyzing variances.

  • Accurate Financial Reporting : Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial statements through meticulous work on the general ledger and detailed financial analysis.
  • Variance Analysis: Identify and address unusual variances early to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Timely Transaction Recording: Maintain the integrity of financial data by recording and reporting accounting transactions promptly.
  • Comprehensive Financial Statements: Prepare detailed balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to provide a clear view of financial health.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear communication and transparency by responding to inquiries from management, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Internal Controls: Enhance financial safeguards by regularly reviewing and developing new internal controls.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Drive efficiency and accuracy by analyzing and recommending changes to current accounting procedures.
  • Confidentiality and Security: Protect sensitive financial information to uphold the organization's integrity and trustworthiness.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
  • CPA certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Fixed assets management
  • Prepaid amortization schedules
  • Month end accrual journal entries and OPEX analysis
  • Sales tax (GST/HST/QST and PST) file preparation
  • Balance sheet general ledger reconciliations
  • Journal entries for AP invoices - freight and fleet
  • Ad hoc tasks

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

Experience:

Minimal relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.
