Production Engineer - Bulk Manufacturing

Your Role

CSL are hiring a Production Engineer to support Bulk Manufacturing. You'll conduct and coordinate Engineering activities in the designated manufacturing area to ensure department objectives of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost are achieved.

The main focus of this role will be to directly support the production department with engineering and maintenance services to continuously improve plant safety, quality compliance, process yield and plant availability.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Production Engineering Lead - Bulk Manufacturing you will:

  • To develop and provide equipment reliability and process engineering expertise for nominated manufacturing areas
  • To investigate, develop and implement solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures
  • To supervise tradespeople and liaise with Engineering, Production and Quality colleagues to achieve business objectives
  • Establish and provide Subject Matter Expertise for nominated manufacturing areas and
provide frontline engineering support to resolve plant issues and reduce manufacturing

downtime, whilst maintaining product quality
  • Organise and/or manage staff/contractors to perform work as required
  • Monitor the physical condition of the plant and implement solutions to adverse trends
  • Raise and implement Process Change Requests and Deviations/CAPAs where appropriate
in your nominated area of responsibility
  • Investigate any abnormal event of concern to maintenance and affecting the conduct of maintenance duties, the safety of plant and people, and/or the quality of the product
  • Investigate plant failures, determine the cause of failure and implement permanent solutions
  • Implement small improvement projects to enhance the performance of the designated area
  • Liaise with other Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality groups to facilitate efficient operations and ensure department objectives of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost are achieved
  • Optimise PM programs to achieve the economic balance between plant performance and
the use of maintenance resources
  • Participate in implementation of the long term technical master plan for the area to ensure effective lifecycle management of the equipment and provision of critical spare parts
  • Develop and maintain technical and operating documentation, and conduct training activities

Your Experience
  • Degree in an appropriate discipline (mechanical, electrical or other related discipline) from a recognised tertiary education institution, together with eligibility for professional membership of the relevant college of the Institute of Engineers
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of semi-or fully automated manufacturing plant, and the direction of maintenance personnel working on the plant
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • Familiarity with typical computerised maintenance management systems
  • A sound knowledge of plant diagnostic methods and reliability engineering
  • Prepared to undertake a concentrated period of learning to become competent in the operation of the plant
  • Personal organisation and work planning skills
  • A logical/analytical approach to problem solving
  • A commitment to occupational health, safety and environment protection
  • A commitment to quality
  • Maintenance and Project Engineering experience with highly automated Pharmaceutical equipment
  • Expertise in process plant engineering involving automated control systems
  • Operational experience in the requirements of the code of Good Manufacturing Practice [cGMP] in a Pharmaceutical environment
