As the Operational Excellence (OE) Manager, you will play a key role in driving performance improvement and implementing the new CSL Operating System (COS) at CSL Behring's manufacturing site in Bern. COS, grounded in LEAN principles, aims to standardize processes across the site(s), foster a performance-driven culture, and accelerate business performance. You will serve as a subject matter expert in LEAN shop floor management (e.g. develop Process Centric Teams, Visual Management, StandardWork, Leader Standard Work, Continuous Improvement), facilitating transformational change and leading initiatives that embed COS methodologies into everyday operations. You will articulate and implement the OE Vision (Where we are going), Purpose (Why we are doing it), Mission (How we will achieve it), and Goals (What we aim to accomplish) for the site, ensuring alignment across all organizational levels.

Additionally, you will contribute to the implementation of COS at the CSL Vifor site in St. Gallen, Switzerland. (travel activities 10-20%).

This role offers the opportunity to work in a matrixed environment, influencing not only local teams but also contributing at a network level through the CSL OE Community of Practice.

You will lead, coach, and mentor teams across multiple layers of the organization, ensuring the COS mindset and practices are embraced at every level and help achieving the site(s) Compelling Business Needs (CBNs).

Main responsibilities and accountabilities:
  • Operational Excellence Leadership:
o Serve as an OE Business Partner, leading COS rollouts in both operational and support areas.

o Develop and implement the OE roadmap for a key value stream and/or support function at the Bern site.
  • COS Implementation and Maturity:
o Facilitate transformation workshops and enable teams to adopt COS methodologies such as Process Centric Teams (PCT), Visual Management, and Standard Work practices.

o Lead the establishment of Tier Meetings, Visual Management boards, and Continuous Improvement (CI) routines to drive operational alignment with the site's Compelling Business Needs (CBNs).

o Promote Leader Standard Work through Gemba walks, layered coaching, and process confirmation to sustain long-term COS integration.

o Conduct COS Maturity Assessments to ensure continuous progress in COS adoption and improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement and Change Management:
o Act as an OE Change Manager, Role Model, Coach, and Mentor to inspire and sustain the COS at all organizational levels.

o Coordinate a portfolio of CI projects, ensuring alignment with COS objectives to sustain and enhance business performance.

o Lead and/or coach complex CI projects and problem-solving workshops, using structured Lean SixSigma approaches.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing:
o Support the development of Lean SixSigma training materials for both the site(s) and network.

o Deliver CI training and coaching to drive certification, utilizing Lean SixSigma methodologies.

o Share Smart Practices across the Bern site and the broader CSL global network.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration / economics / Life Science / Data Science / Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant Operational Excellence experience, with a proven track record in:
o Leading OE transformational change programs (experience with production systems implementation preferred).

o LEAN shop floor management and CI methodologies.

o Lean SixSigma (Green or Black Belt certification preferred) with hands-on project experience.

o Managing and reporting in a matrixed, highly regulated environment (Pharmaceutical industry and GxP experience preferred).
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven ability to coach and mentor cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Advanced knowledge of data analytics tools (e.g., Minitab), MS PowerBI, MS Power Apps, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Fluent in both German and English.
