CSL's Co-Op Program is a hands-on experience that showcases the dailyinnovation and operations of a leadingbiotechnology company. Our environment iscollaborative, global, and purpose-driven. The 6-month experiencewill immersestudents in meaningful, thought-provoking projects that contribute to CSL's promise to savelives andprotect the health of people around the world. In additionto making an impact,students will be developed personallyand professionally while cultivating meaningfulrelationships.

The mRNA molecular science team is pioneering characterization of sa-mRNA sequence-structure-function relationship at key steps during the sa-mRNA product development process, using RNA structural and functional analyses powered by next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.

Main Responsibilities

As a Molecular Science Co-Op, you will develop better understanding of how the sa-mRNA sequence impacts its structural and stability features in solution and in lipid nanoparticles. Additionally, you'll be encouraged to actively participate in the diverse learning opportunities provided throughout the duration of the Co-Op program.

• Molecular characterization of sa-mRNA: Follow established SOPs to prepare NGS libraries for characterization of sa-mRNA structural and stability features in a variety of contexts.

• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists to derive insights from NGS-based studies for sa-mRNA sequence optimization and process improvement.

• Presentation: Report progress and findings to relevant team members and stakeholders.

• Documentation: Document experimental procedure and results in electronic lab notebook to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.

• Stay Informed: Keep abreast of the most recent developments in utilizing NGS to characterize mRNA in manufacturing process and in cellular environment.

• Professional Development: Engage in learning opportunities offered during the Co-Op program.

Qualifications

• Graduate student currently enrolled in a Master/PhD Program, or entering Senior in undergraduate program in molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, or a related field.

• Knowledge in RNA biochemistry and RNA biology

• Experience with molecular biology techniques, for example: gel electrophoresis, PCR, and other type of enzymatic reactions

• Experience in NGS library preparation and NGS data analysis is highly desired

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
