- Role: API Gateway Engineer

The API Gateway Engineerwill be responsible for the development, configuration, deployment, and production support of Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateway and Developer Portal systems. This role includes troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining these platforms, ensuring they operate at optimal performance. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features, resolve issues, and ensure high availability and security of the gateway infrastructure.

Some of the things you'll be doing:
Development & Implementation:
- Design, develop, and configure Broadcom API Gateway policies, services, and workflows.
- Integrate Broadcom Gateway with various backend systems and ensure secure data transmission.
- Implement automation for API deployment, policy management, and configuration updates
- Monitor the health and performance of Broadcom API Gateway and Developer Portal in production.
- Respond to and resolve incidents related to platform performance, availability, and security.
- Conduct root cause analysis of production issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure all API traffic through the Broadcom Gateway is secure, with strong authentication and authorization mechanisms in place.
- Manage encryption, data protection, and security policies across the platform.
- Collaborate with the security team to implement compliance measures for the gateway and developer portal.
- Work closely with API developers, DevOps engineers, and architects to support the deployment and integration of APIs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers on best practices related to Broadcom API Gateway and Developer Portal.
- Engage with product management and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Plan and execute platform upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and impact to end-users.
- Regularly apply patches, security updates, and configuration changes to the Broadcom Gateway environment.
- Create and maintain documentation related to platform architecture, workflows, and troubleshooting guides.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for monitoring, incident response, and deployment workflows.
- Continuously evaluate the performance of the platform, making improvements to optimize efficiency and scalability.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline API deployments and reduce manual interventions.
- Assist API consumers and internal teams with onboarding to the Developer Portal and understanding gateway policies.
- Provide hands-on support for API developers, addressing issues related to connectivity, security, or policy enforcement.
- Generate regular reports on API traffic, performance metrics, and system health for stakeholders.
- Implement logging and monitoring solutions to provide detailed insights into platform operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6-8 years of experience working with Broadcom API Gateway (formerly CA API Gateway or Layer7).
- Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth, JWT, and Mutual TLS.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a production environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with Broadcom Developer Portal, Container Gateway and other API management platforms
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Familiarity with API management solutions other than Broadcom.
- Knowledge of MySQL and Oracle RAC database to support the API management platform.
- Experience with Obesrvabilyt platform (e.g. Elastic.)
