The Infrastructure team’s mission is to create an efficient, reliable and scalable foundation to accelerate the development, launch and expansion of autonomous technology. Infrastructure at Cruise builds the foundational enterprise, developer, site, and cloud technology and operations that Cruisers rely on every day. We enable robust, modern, reliable, and secure infrastructure that provides the innovation, insights, and efficiency for teams to meet Cruise’s near and long term goals!

We are looking for a Senior Product Management II - Technical (PMT) to be responsible for the product vision, strategy, and roadmaps for some of our most critical Infrastructure initiatives. As a PMT you will be expected to deliver efficient, reliable, resilient, and scalable products that accelerate the development and operation of autonomous technology.

In this position, you will work cross-functionally to deliver solutions that have a direct impact on the growth of Cruise. You will work closely with several critical team members and Senior Management to influence the direction of the product. To be successful in this role you will need to use your extensive background and expertise in the areas of developer productivity, developer experience, reliability, and ML compute.

What You’ll Be Doing:

PMT’s guide our teams to build the right products at the right time, enabling Cruise to launch the world’s most advanced self-driving vehicles at scale. At Cruise, Technical Product Managers are responsible for defining the “what” and “why”, to ensure we capture requirements and build the right products for our internal and external customers. In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Develop the Product Vision, Strategy, and Roadmaps - PMTs obsess over their customers. They craft compelling narratives that distill opposing needs, provide comprehensive solutions, and align diverse partners. They focus on impact and outcomes, over pure output.

  • Deploy Critical Thinking - PMTs think big and dive deep, relative to the situation. They balance trade-offs to improve value to the company. They seek to understand before proposing solutions, especially when the path forward is unclear.

  • Lead Prioritization - PMTs should drive high quality decisions efficiently, and (re-)prioritize ruthlessly. They create a bias towards action for themselves and their teams. They deliver results, going above and beyond to do so.

  • Engage with Customers - PMTs collect, lead, and discover new opportunities to delight our customers. They act in a critical role as the primary advocate for and voice of the customer.

  • Partner with Leadership - PMTs build consensus, in all types of situations. They earn trust with their customers, teams, and partners. They inspire others to greatness, and lead by example.

  • Demonstrate Strong Technical Skills - PMTs build and maintain technical understanding of their domains. They can discuss technical trade-offs on systems, and are able to absorb new or unfamiliar context quickly. They understand technical decisions and impacts that the team has made.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Collect/lead ideas and discover new opportunities (idea management)

  • Own “what” problems need to be solved and define “why” the solution is needed

  • Create roadmaps of initiatives and features to solve for company goals

  • Launch new initiatives, test their performance, and iterate quickly.

  • Create Product requirement documents (PRDs) that outline the success criteria for an initiative, function or product

  • Create detailed design documentation to intent where possible

  • Develop Pareto documents to conduct detailed analysis to identity the relative importance of various items and determine the greatest opportunity for impact

  • Be the directly responsible individual for their success and will work with the teams to correct if trending in the wrong direction

  • Help prioritize features and initiatives to hit company goals

You Have:

  • 5-8 years of technical product management experience at a fast-paced technology company

  • Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure with a focus in Developer Productivity and Developer Experience.

  • Experience with Build/CI Platforms and ML Compute/Workload scheduling

  • A Degree in Computer Science, or 2+ years of related experience in software development, QA, or infrastructure

  • Experience formulating and driving a principled product vision, and being responsible for the narrative with leadership and key team members

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners

  • Experience leading critical initiatives that span across multiple teams with conflicting priorities and schedules

  • Ability to generate crucial product insights through risk assessments, quantitative, and qualitative analysis

  • Outstanding communication skills: verbal and written, with engineers, non-technical partners, and executives

  • Deep appreciation for developers and customers alike

The salary range for this position is $142,800 - $210,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
