DIVISION OVERVIEW:
Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. Duties:

  • Check schedule to determine if scheduled maintenance is in order.  Determine if schedule can be adjusted or time permits for overhaul repair or re-adjustment required by the  equipment.    
  • Check machines, analyze any and all types of mechanical or operational troubles and plan for and take corrective action.  Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Make change-over by setting up assigned equipment for change in material.  Operate equipment to try out change-over.
  • Make repair or overhaul short of machining parts.  Replace worn or damaged parts. Re-time machine action.
  • Operate equipment to check operation.  Clean and lubricate as required. Clear jams. Check spray materials, lubricants and add or change materials.  Check operation of auto light tester with test cans.
  • Remove, adjust, polish, install and maintain metal working tools.
  • Examine, test and measure product from assigned equipment using appropriate gauges and instruments and record data.  Check product for visual defects and overall  conformance to requirements.  Provide corrective action and report findings.
  • Make preventative maintenance checks and inspection on assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action.
  • Analyze spoilage as to cause and where possible take corrective action.  Analyze and record comments regarding cause of production delays on production sheet or log book.
  • Operate assigned equipment and advise internal suppliers of standard procedures and requirements.
  • Observe operation of all assigned equipment and clear jams as necessary.  Re-thread strapping materials when necessary.
  • Monitor the action of the pallet conveying system (U.T.D.C.) and report re-occurring problems to electricians.
  • Notify supervisor of incidences of repeated equipment malfunction and corrective action taken.  Report on non-conforming materials or supplies. 
  • Ensure the smooth flow of cans through the back-end area.
  • Facilitate reliefs through the back-end area.
  • Complete assigned process and maintenance shift reports.
  • Keep assigned area clean and hazard free.
  • Ensure that all safety equipment, devices and guards are properly used and in place at all times. Follow safe working procedures and safety rules.


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Set up, adjust and maintain necker / necker flanger, beader, light tester, waxer, palletizer and strapping machines.  Has primary responsibility for production and quality on assigned equipment.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
Waxer, neck-in machine, neck-in and flanging machine, beader, light tester, elevators, conveyors, air/ mechanical single filers, palletizers, de-palletizers, strappers, spray machines, coaters, decorators, ovens, U.T.D.C. conveyor, hand and power tools, measuring tools and precision gauges, janitorial supplies etc.
