Summary:
The Waste Fuels Supervisor assists in coordinating and supervising waste fuel operations to maximize the safe use of waste fuel in full compliance with policies and procedures, permit conditions, and with federal and state regulations. Supervises: Varies by Plant: Chanute - Solid Waste Derived Fuel, Solid WDF Sampler, WDF Specialist; Forman - Fuel Handler, Red Line Bracket 8
What you'll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Secures and maintains compliance with the company's policies and procedures, permit conditions, and federal and state regulations regarding the transportation, handling, and use of waste-derived fuels.
- Coordinates and schedules shipments of waste fuels.
- Inspects each shipment and verifies shipping records for completeness and accuracy in accordance with the Part B Permit and applicable regulations.
- Resolves any discrepancies in shipping records prior to unloading shipments of waste fuel.
- Handles inquiries and information exchanges relating to waste fuels.
- Ensures safe operation of the waste fuel facility.
- Supervises the performance of subordinates pertaining to procedures for and safety precautions required in handling waste fuel.
- Attends RCRA and other training related to waste fuel activities.
- Supervises and documents on-the-job training for subordinate waste fuel employees.
- Prepares reports for the company's management and regulatory agencies.
- Participates in responses to surveys by the EPA and other agencies regarding safety and waste fuel operations.
- Serves representative during site assessments by insurers, waste generators, and waste fuel processors and during RCRA and other inspections.
- Prepares post-inspection reports.
- Orders, inspect and maintains emergency response equipment, supplies, and equipment for waste fuel operations.
- Assures that scheduled testing for fugitive emissions is performed by appropriate personnel and results are properly recorded.
- Assures that testing equipment is properly calibrated.
- Audits daily, weekly, monthly, and annual RCRA and other inspection sheets and logs for completeness, correctness, and regulatory compliance.
- Assigns inspection personnel to perform inspections, check work orders and resolve all deficiencies noted on inspection sheets.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 Year - Associate Degree
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the cement or related industry with exposure to waste fuel operations and corresponding state and federal regulations.
- Ability to lead/manage others
- Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
- Knowledge of cement production operations and the handling of waste fuels.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding waste fuel procedures.
- Ability to work from general supervision with specified policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of the organizational policy is required.
What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
