Summary:

The Technical Services Manager educates, trains, and motivates sales personnel on technical and promotional issues regarding products and production processes. This position develops amiable relationships with customers and specifiers and provides assistance to customers with specified problems and concerns of a technical nature.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Provides technical assistance and performs field evaluations for the assigned territory regarding the proper use of portland cement, concrete, concrete mix designs, and cement/concrete specifications for customers, contractors, architects, engineers, etc.
  • Assumes responsibility for the timely response of technical service activities and resolutions of complaints in coordination with sales personnel.
  • Investigates and determine the source of customer problems using available resources.
  • Coordinates requests for service reports and sample submissions with the Technical Center or other testing agencies.
  • Travels with sales representatives on service calls.
  • Trains and guides sales representatives in the promotion and utilization, and resources and other related Supplemental Cementitious Materials, products, and services.
  • Assists in the promotional and technical education of sales representatives through organized training and development meetings.
  • Conducts seminars for customers with a variety of technical backgrounds.
  • Provides assessments of customer quality requirements to marketing and operations personnel during quality round table meetings.
  • Conducts annual audits of testing procedures performed in satellite concrete lab operations throughout the Technical Services Divisions.
  • Utilizes local materials division lab operations to conduct competitive concrete sample testing.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with customers, architects, engineers, contractors, state DOTs, and state universities/colleges and promotes their use of cement concrete products.
  • Provides resources and reference materials for use in promotional activities to these groups.
  • Represents the company and actively participates in technical organizations. industry organizations, and groups.
  • Develops and maintains good communication between sales, production, and research personnel.
  • Assumes responsibility for keeping up with current industry technology through literature, seminars, and collaboration with other industry professionals on technical issues.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.


To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc
  • 4 year/Bachelors Degree required
  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent science field preferred
  • PE Preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in cement/concrete industry with substantial participating in industry related trade organization
  • Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
  • Knowledge regarding the composition and production of cement, concrete, and concrete-related products.
  • Ability to give effective promotion, training, and other educational presentations.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to consult with a supervisor about time management, expenses, committee work, convention/seminar attendance, publications, and special reports.
  • Ability to work under general supervision with specified policies, procedures, and performance goals
  • Ability to refer unusual problems to supervisor for guidance.


Compensation:

  • Salary ranges from $98,000-$118,000
  • Eligible for yearly bonus
  • Potential for Geographic Differential
