Position Overview
Staker Parson Companies is looking to fill a position with a candidate that has the skills or experience to manage the survey department and give accurate guidance to assure quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and lead team of field surveyors, VDC, and office support staff
- Acquire, create, and deliver 2d and 3d design information needed for estimating, grade checking, structure stake out, and surveying.
- Provide oversight and technical support with surveyors and grade checkers to ensure proper setup and procedures.
- Collect and organize as-built survey data. Utilize to adjust designs or create reports.
- Coordinate and work with Mining Engineering team
- Build relationships & partnership with suppliers and vendors while ensuring payment compliance
- Communicate with managers, owners, peers, and contractors to schedule the survey team as needed to meet the demands of projects.
- Ensure all needed licenses and certifications are in place for self and team
- Manage, acquire, and maintain necessary software for department
- Work with managers, crews, and owners to help assure quality delivery of projects when elevation, quantity, or unforeseen issues arise.
- Work with different internal departments to meet property survey, quarry layout, or other needs.
- Oversee and monitor survey & grade equipment, vehicles, computers, and tools to ensure that it is all properly maintained, calibrated, and fully accounted for. Develop a schedule for replacement as needed. Responsible for all profit and loss
- Verify survey staff maintains proper documentation necessary for time reporting, project records, credit statements, vehicle maintenance, and fuel purchases.
- Assure safety standards are met and provide appropriate equipment or assistance as needed to reduce risks within the group.
- Set up and perform survey and grade work as needed in the field to train, troubleshoot, assist or fill in if situations arise.
- Participate in industry associations as required
- Ensure strict adherence to all deadlines from company and customers, both internal and external
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
Performance of this position require a mixture of knowledge, skill, experience, and training. Not all listed are required, but different combinations of the following will enable best placement.
Education and Experiences
- 5 years survey and layout experience within the heavy highway industry and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, or a combination of both requirements (preferred)
- Survey Manger Experience (Preferred)
- Proficient computer skills
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- Experience and familiarity reviewing and interpreting project plans to determine proper information.
- Utah Licensed Professional Surveyor (Preferred)
- Pursuit or award of Civil Engineering, Surveying, or degree in related field (Preferred)
- Experience with Trimble Business Center or similar programs. (Preferred)
- Experience with Trimble and Topcon machine control systems
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of BIM modeling and Autodesk Revit software
- Knowledge of earthwork takeoff and AMG integration software
- Knowledge of Bentley and Civil 3d drafting software
- Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to understand technical drawings and plans
- Ability to create verifiable reports for pursuit, progress and payment
- Ability to create exhibits from digital delivery workspace

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work environment includes both office and field.
