Interns will be educated, trained, and exposed to the day-to-day functions of the aggregate or asphalt operations of the Company under the close direction of an experienced supervisor/manager or Plant Manager. Work assignments and on-the-job experience will be relevant to the Intern's course of study or technical skill.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Participate in learning the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of the Aggregate or Asphalt Department.
  • Study and understand the relationship of the assigned Aggregate or Asphalt Department and their responsibilities to the Company and the Organization as a whole.
  • Understand the job duties and responsibilities of each member in the Aggregate or Asphalt Department.
  • Be exposed to the Aggregate or Asphalt Department's reporting and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Observe and study techniques and traits of experienced employees in the Aggregate or Asphalt Department in order to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for completing departmental duties and the performance of the department.
  • May be assigned projects and/or tasks by all the Aggregate or Asphalt Department's leadership.
  • Works in the Quality Control Department to understand the importance of the relationship between quality production and a quality aggregate/asphalt product.
  • Work individually or in concert with other Intern participants on an assigned project to be presented at the end of the Internship.
  • Wears a hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience
  • Student at a college, university, or technical school.

  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image as an Intern.
  • Ability to follow direction and complete simple tasks.
  • Ability to be tactful with average communication skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed.

  • Must be computer literate.
