Position Overview

The Sales Manager interacts and establishes rapport with current and prospective customers through the sale and collections of products produced and distributed by the operating company. Manages sales personnel, equipment, and customer accounts in coordination with estimating, field service and quality control departments of the operating company by performing the following duties personally and through subordinate employees.

Pay ranges from $90K to $110K, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Meets with key clients and holds sales representatives accountable for sales call reporting, growing customer base, maintaining customer relationships and negotiating successful sales.
  • Analyzes sales statistics to formulate best practice in promoting sales growth in all lines of business.
  • Leads training, development and program initiatives of the sales departments and personnel.
  • Represents company at trade associations and participates in other committee events as approved by your supervisor.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and conducts sales presentations in coordination with sales representatives.
  • Works with estimating departments to review project quotes for aggregates, concrete, precast, and related materials.
  • Tracks quoted projects utilizing DF3, Sales Force and other applicable software programs.
  • Works with team to conduct post-delivery customer service review and assist with timely collection of past due accounts.
  • Works with Materials Coordinator to evaluate raw material and delivery costs for the purpose of reviewing and adjusting new product pricing, project pricing and customer tier pricing.
  • Works with Accounting to ensure new product coding is established.
  • Communicates with Estimators and QC Manager regarding specified product information and material requirements.
  • Promotes sale of capped materials, branded mix designs, and innovative and sustainable product offerings.
  • Coordinates communication between sales and other sales associated departments, Quality Control, Service, Operations, Safety, Accounting, and HR.
  • Prepares periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion including review and recommendations regarding dormant customer status and new customer acquisition.
  • Works with team to monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.
  • Develops and nurtures a "Safety Culture" within the sales department and with customers being serviced.
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies for existing and new product lines in alignment with sustainability goals.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer and employee situations; responds promptly to customer concerns; meets commitments in a timely manner.
  • Assists with business and product marketing including interaction with internal government relations personnel and local and State officials.
  • Actively engages in company committees.
  • Assists with other duties and projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the sales department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policy and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and coaching performance; rewarding and disciplining behavior; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently walk and sit as well as occasionally required to stand and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways and access elevated platforms.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
