Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for implementation, oversight, leadership and assistance with company safety/health, risk management and employee development and engagement. This position requires an individual who is extremely motivated with a high level of organizational skill, including written and verbal communication, and problem solving. This individual will manage a team of about five safety personnel and report to the Region President.

Requirements
- Interface directly with company leadership to address safety concerns
- Assist in maintaining a high level of safety compliance and awareness at company fixed locations (asphalt plants, offices, shops, ready-mix plants, and quarry locations) through site visits and documentation of deficiencies
- Work directly with field crews on a regular basis to promote company safety philosophies, expectations, and personal responsibility
- Interact and consult with other members of the West Division and Region Safety Teams to develop new safety initiatives, objectives, and best practices
- Attend training sessions/meetings presented by CRH or national safety organizations as needed
- Training
- Appropriate MSHA or OSHA required training
- CRH or West Division mandated training as needed
- Effectively oversee a Claims Manager who will manage any work-related injury, and Field Safety Specialists who will manage incidents, or near misses including:
- Incident analysis to determine the presence of error precursors and latent conditions
- Injury prevention strategies
- Reporting
- Implementation of system improvements and robust defenses
- Recordkeeping (OSHA/MSHA) Oversee a Safety Administrator who will maintain documentation for safety and health program (OSHA 300, monthly reporting, CRH annual surveys)
- Assist in environmental compliance as needed
- Consult with Human Resource personnel on safety concerns including:
- Toolbox meetings
- Monthly safety updates
- Safety incentive plans
- Annual safety meetings
- Disciplinary issues related to safety
- Return To Work
- Support and guidance of the overall safety philosophy of CRH and our Human Performance journey
- Interface with CRH/Division safety consultants on job site visits, fixed plant visits, and performance audits
- Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion
- Must pass drug test, physical, and criminal background check
- This position requires an individual who is extremely motivated with a high level of organizational skill, including written and verbal communication, and problem solving
Education/Experience
- BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety or related field or comparable professional experience in industrial safety.
- Must be familiar with OSHA/MSHA/DOT regulations pertaining to safety and health.
- Computer skills in Microsoft office, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Ability to learn and utilize internal software programs and data management programs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work Environment
Office Environment and Field Visits including Plants, Pits, Shops and job sites, hotels and conference rooms. This position will require about 50% travel.
