About the role

We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Plant Manager to join our UK team based in Sheffield UK.

In this role, you'll head-up operational performance across Leviat's Sheffield sites also be responsible for system developments, tactical as well as their strategic direction and align them with UK policy deployment and direction.

You'll manage the senior operational leads under the Plant Manager's control, comprising production managers, FLLs, engineering resources and others. You'll liaise closely with and support other operational functions, including purchasing, CI, and SHEQ, commercial and sales functions.

Most importantly you'll align safety direction ahead of targeted aspirations, resulting in continuous reduction in site lost time accidents, accidents in general and HPLE incidents and delight customers through the supply of manufactured products on-time, to specification, while supporting cost reduction initiatives to improve margins and offer customers continued value for money.

In addition, you'll Introduce new manufacturing techniques (system based and well and physical process improvements) to maximise contributions and demonstrate true operational continuous improvement.

Main responsibilities

In this role you'll:

  • Positively impact the Leviat Sheffield safety culture to impact performance delivering continuous safety performance improvement. Embrace the current safety journey and influence improved performance moving forward.
  • Positively impact the Leviat Sheffield quality culture to impact performance delivering continuous quality improvement through system development and engineering expertise.
  • Continuously improve interactions and performance around OTIF & OTD. Continuously improve delivery performance and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Manage engineering activities, ensure resources are properly deployed around the key requirements of the business.
  • Manage a desk of projects to deliver managed cost reduction to target level.
  • Embrace and positively impact the operational DCI productivity improvement endeavours through small team department led initiatives and actions.
  • Influence other operational and company departments directions through close interaction and participation.
  • Introduce improved planning and resource deployment tools to stimulate further improvement.


Experience & qualifications

To be successful in this role you'll need:

  • A degree in a Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering or equivalent
  • A proven track record of leading & implementing improvement projects
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes & materials used throughout metal processing industry.
  • Previous manufacturing metal forming experience preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of implementing continuous improvement & operational excellence philosophies including lean and six sigma.
  • A good knowledge of ERP and ideally SAP
  • A developed awareness of and full commitment to the adherence of health and safety guidelines.
  • The ability to challenge conventional methodology and deliver new ways of working in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Developed commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisational leadership skills, with a desire to coach and build capability and instilling best practices across a team
