Position Overview /Impact
This position is responsible for management of construction /milling/paving projects from solicitation to final closeout. You will be responsible for overseeing multiple project managers/superintendents at once and communicating directly with upper management.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strictly adheres to and promotes environmental, health, safety and training policies, procedures and requirements, including but not limited to wearing proper PPE as required.
- Ensures a safe work environment by overseeing compliance and employee involvement with all safety policies, conducting training and safety audits, and providing appropriate tools and equipment to personnel.
- Daily, 2 week and 90 day schedule development and communication.
- Maintains appropriate interaction and communication with other departments; is prepared to attend pre-construction meetings; provides technical advice and resolves project concerns, participates in weekly staff, material movement and equipment meetings.
- Manages multiple PMs and/or Superintendents.
- Assists in project supervision.
- Maintains successful project hand offs to set clear expectations detailing aspects of the project that are critical to its success.
- Reviews project budget and plans to improve cost/schedule.
- Maintains cost control and revenue/cost projections/forecasts.
- Provides costs reports, cost projections, work schedules, and daily reports of operating efficiency on projects.
- Monitors equipment utilization reports on the daily basis.
- Monitors quality control reports.
- Ensures deadlines are met.
- Completes project close out for retainage payment.
- Maintains frequent and proactive communication with owners, engineers and general contractors on projects.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Models professional and courteous attitude and behavior to all.
- Supports ASSC Teams (associate safety steering committes)
- Conducts annual evaluations of direct reports timely and accurately.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when required.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Marginal Duties and Functions
- Assists other departments as requested or assigned.
- Provides input for strategic development opportunities.
- Responsible for knowing and controlling costs and resulting departments profit/loss
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including but not limited to succession planning, interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraise performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Monitors daily change order tracking.
- Monitors project submittal logs.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Required Education / Experience / Skills
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 10+ years of practical work experience.
- Must possess a valid State driver's license
- 5+ years of milling and paving experience.
- Computer savvy.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to work professionally with other personnel.
- Self-motivated and conscientious.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong action orientation and drive for results.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and facilitate change.
- Working knowledge of English and Math, office practices and procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files.

Preferred
- Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) from four year college or university
- At least 3 years' experience in an operations leadership role.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities.
- High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

This job will require both office work and field work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is expected to work well with others. They will be frequently exposed to hot weather, cold weather, wet weather, dust, and moving mechanical equipment. They will occasionally be exposed to noise and high heat. The noise level in the office environment in the office is usually quiet.
