Position Overview
The Network & Security Manager's core responsibilities include leadership of the network team and the development, operational, and maintenance of networks and networking infrastructure. This includes network design, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, security and device management. This is a management role that requires both strong technical networking knowledge / experience and strong interpersonal skills to manage a team of network engineers and analysts.

Additionally, strong vendor management skills / experience are required for the Network & Security Manager role in order to manage supporting third parties such as telecom and Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
Where appropriate, the Network & Security Manager will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing Transformation Programme and relevant projects e.g. pilot of Zero Trust Architecture, Network Strategy & Roadmap, etc.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of network engineers and analysts (approx. 7 people) in the day-to-day development, operational, and maintenance of networks and networking infrastructure. Coordinate and delegate tasks as required.
  • Provide guidance, expertise and coaching to network engineers and analysts regarding activities and deliverables.
  • Conduct active management & monitoring, implementing changes & service requests, resolving incidents & problems, and lifecycle management across the following core areas:
  • WAN / SD-WAN / IP Sec
  • LAN / WLAN
  • Firewall / core network
  • Remote access
  • Public DNS
    • Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components, ensuring the stable operation and efficient performance of company networks
    • Install, configure and maintain all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, etc.
    • Recommend improvements and enhancements to meet new or changing network demands.
    • Develop and implement policies for network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation, and technical specifications information
    • Support compliance with internal and external regulations and standards including but not limited to NIST and Cyber Essentials.
    • Support Service Desk with incident troubleshooting, problem management and root cause analysis regarding network related issues
    • Engage, coordinate and collaborate effectively with IT Leadership and with adjacent divisions, namely IT Architecture, IT Demand Management and IT Asset Management.
    • Manage third parties / third party relationships with key vendors and MSPs and manage governance fora e.g. monthly business reviews, reports, etc.
    • Provide support to relevant transformation activities / projects where appropriate. For example, potential activities / projects include the pilot of Zero Trust Architecture, Network Asset Management, Network Strategy & Roadmap, etc.
    • Interface with and support Divisional and operating company teams on network-related activities and projects.

    • Strong professional accreditations / certifications such as ITIL, CISCO, Azure, CompTIA+, etc.
    • Language: English (Fluent). Desirable: Second European Language (preferred)
    • Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills with people at all levels across the organisation.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
    • Effective negotiation skills to be able to facilitate collaboration with internal stakeholders, vendors and MSPs.
    • The ability to translate business requirements into viable technical solutions.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills (all directions).
    • The ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.


    Experience / Education
    You are/have:
    • College diploma or university degree in business, information systems, or technical related subject.
    • Minimum of 8-10 years hands-on, technical experience of working as part of a network operations team and wider infrastructure / IT team.
    • Minimum of 5 years management experience as part of a network operations team or wider infrastructure / IT team.
    • Experience working in the construction materials / industrial manufacturing sector.
    • Proven experience of working in a federated matrix model.
