Reports to: Maintenance Superintendent

Shift: Monday-Friday includes weekends rotational shift

Pay: $36.88/ hour with incremental annual increases

Summary:

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs maintenance and repair on mobile equipment and some non-mobile equipment as assigned. The person will obtain the ability to operate the plant mobile equipment needed to perform tasks. Serves as mentor to other employees in the mobile repair classification. Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on mobile equipment including pick-up trucks, tractors, rock trucks, forklifts and related mobile equipment. Understands and applies knowledge of electrical and electronic functions of mobile equipment in addition to mechanical repairs performed.
  • Interprets and works from prints, blueprints, charts, tables, work orders, verbal instructions and established practices to organize and complete assigned repair jobs. Solves routine job problems effectively.
  • Performs preventive and routine maintenance inspections and repairs on plant equipment and machinery, including non-mobile equipment such as power plants and pumping plants as assigned.
  • Performs tack-welding using electric arc process.
  • Perform cutting using oxygen-acetylene and air plasma process.
  • Writes requisitions for parts to be purchased through normal plant processes.
  • Responsible for closing work orders with accurate closing comments associated with tasks.
  • Operates computerized maintenance management system.
  • Samples oil for analysis.
  • Inspect work areas for Safety, environmental or performance issues.
  • Ability to operate plant equipment associated with the job.
  • Maintains and exercises good housekeeping and clean-up practices of immediate work areas or in other areas in conjunction with assigned duties.
  • Responsible for documentation associated with job duties.
  • As required assists in maintenance activities and major plant repair projects.
  • Performs vacation relief, fills other positions as needed performs other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor or Production Manager. (as needed)
  • Observes all safety rules and keeps work areas clean. (continuous)
  • Observes all safety and environmental policies, procedures, standards, and rules, wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and keeps work areas and equipment in a clean, orderly, and operating manner.
  • As required, attends RCRA training for waste-derived fuel activity and performs tasks related to job duties associated with waste-derived fuel activities.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor


To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • High school graduation or equivalent is required
  • Willingness to learn, training will be provided
  • Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, boom trucks, rock trucks, pick-up trucks, tractors and other mobile equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand vehicle service manuals, drawings and diagrams, warning labels, instructions, signs and similar information. Ability to diagnose and repair problems with power equipment.
  • Ability to use and interpret precision measuring tools, such as micrometers, Verner calipers, dial indicators, pressure gauges and related equipment.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools, air and electric driven power tools, hoists, hand taps, dies, hammers, wrenches, jacks, welder & electric and acetylene welding equipment, cutting torch, ladders, air compressors, chain falls, port-a-powers, multimeters, battery chargers, hydrometers, general and specialized machine tools, brooms, picks, shovels, and related equipment.
  • Required to progress and maintain a working knowledge of the equivalent of first-class mechanical maintenance skill level and position. This position will be used, as needed, for general plant maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Work requires walking on slippery surfaces on occasion, pulling and lifting while lubricating equipment such as compressors, pumps, and bearings.
  • Work requires carrying toolboxes, lubrication containers and walking over rough surfaces; climbing ladders; lifting and handling tools and equipment weighing up to 150-lbs.; working at elevated heights; and regularly working in awkward positions, in confined spaces and frequently bending and crouching.
  • Must successfully complete on-the-job training, provided by designated supervision or otherwise qualified individuals.
  • Must complete technical training as assigned.
  • Must pass a basic mobile repair knowledge test.
  • Work requires walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders and stairs, working in elevated areas, and working in confined spaces, cement silos, tanks and drain manholes.


What to expect in a cement environment:

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 427 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
