SUMMARY

Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs personal computer hardware and software systems; manages and configures network settings on user devices; troubleshoots computer and network issues and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Determines users' technical needs and provides them with appropriate solutions.
  • Installs hardware, software and device drivers on standalone computers.
  • Troubleshoots user network connectivity problems for both home and office users from multiple device platforms.
  • Manages device network configurations to ensure that all computers on a network can communicate effectively.
  • Tests computers peripherals, hardware, and software to ensure that they are working appropriately.
  • Upgrades software, patches, and operating systems on user PCs/tablets/phones on a continuous basis.
  • Installs and configures monitors, keyboards, and printers.
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software problems.
  • Acts as a technical resource to assist users with resolving computer issues.
  • Responds to tickets and emails pertaining to users' computer problems.
  • Ensures that all computers are secured effectively by installing and updating antivirus software.
  • Trains users in using both new hardware and new software.
  • Explains the role of network applications and equipment to the end users.
  • Maintains documentation of technical maintenance procedures conducted.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.
