Position Overview
The Sales Manager - Hot Mix Asphalt position is responsible for the Hot Mix Asphalt Sales department and provides leadership for the Sales and Hot Mix Asphalt/Construction teams. This position ensures success of the group through fostering a customer focused culture, developing, and executing a market strategy, and continuously making our business better. This position will create commercial success through working collaboratively with all stakeholders to deliver for our customers, building enduring relationships with our customers, and creating an environment for the team to succeed and grow. In this role you will work with other business leaders, a team of sales representatives, sales managers, and other stakeholders to advance the company's strategy, deliver its values and create a successful, and make Pennsy Supply, Inc a great place to work.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Responsible for own personal safety at all times, as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job
- Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc
- Drive a culture of safety as well as the organizational safety initiatives within the Sales and Asphalt group
- Demonstrate and communicate our core value of Putting Safety First in all we do and promoting safety as a shared, uncompromised value
- Foster a positive and engaging work environment that supports our organizational values and provides a great place to work
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to the Sales and Hot Mix Asphalt teams.
- Lead, develop, communicate, and execute the Hot Mix Asphalt department's market strategy in collaboration with the Sales and Construction teams
- Coach and support the team in personal and professional growth, which includes promoting and executing organizational people development initiatives, such as goal setting, development plans and coaching/ mentoring programs
- Perform pricing analysis, which includes price / volume tradeoffs, NBAs, historical trends, regional and segmentation pricing, and competitor pricing analysis
- Drive toward performance goals, including volume/margin targets, key account and relationship targets and support other performance targets within the Hot Mix Asphalt department, such a mix optimization, waste reduction and energy reduction
- Collaborate with the Hot Mix Asphalt department, aggregate and other departments to plan, schedule and coordinate production and sales. Participate and facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly meetings to ensure customers and production teams operate at optimum efficiency and effectiveness
- Engage and effectively communicate with people within sales, Hot Mix Asphalt, and across our business to promote the departments and organization's values, strategy, and direction to gain alignment toward a common goal
- Build internal relationships and listen to colleagues across our entire business to learn from their feedback and experiences and make our organization better
- Drive efforts to increase financial performance for the department and the organization
- Present and effectively communicate financial and sales results to the Hot Mix Asphalt team, the Sales team, Pennsy Leadership team, and CRH Divisional Leadership team
- Effectively negotiate projects and material pricing
- Create value for both Pennsy Supply, customers and stakeholders on projects and create and promote value propositions for customers
- Support and execute on efforts to leverage technology and systems (Salesforce, Quote to Cash, Viewpoint, Command, etc.) by evaluate and creating their value, ensuring adoption and utilization, and leverage insights and value created from them
- Other duties as assigned
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year College or University; or 2 or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4 or more years of related experience in customer service and sales or related exposure from other function in industry is preferred
- 2 or more years of managing and leading people in a team environment
- Highly respected team player/learner and a collaborative worker. Possesses a strong desire and ability to learn
- Experience and training in customer centric and collaborative environments where communication and influencing principles are exhibited
- Experience in customer facing roles where negotiations, relationships and sales processes were exhibited
- Experience in formal presentations to various groups across a business
- Experience in market strategy and execution preferred
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail
- Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
- Detail orientated with strong organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Must have a positive attitude and team player
- High level of responsiveness
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively prioritize to meet long term and short-term deadlines
- Ability to respond to stressful situations, co-workers, and customers in a professional, courteous demeaner
General Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
- Hours are extended throughout the year to include nights and weekends when necessary
