Job Title: Field Technician

Location: Stirling, Scotland (Candidates from Glasgow or Edinburgh also considered)

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Average working week of 42 hours with overtime

Salary: £23,400 per annum

We maintain and operate Hydro-Logic® Flexi Logger 105 equipment across approximately 1,400 sites in the UK, providing high-quality data analysis and reporting on water levels, quality, flow, and rainfall. Our clients include major organisations such as Welsh Water, Severn Trent, and The Coal Authority, as well as smaller authorities and parish councils.

Our flood monitoring systems offer essential insights to communities affected by heavy rainfall, helping them prepare for and respond to environmental challenges.

About the Role

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our growing team in Scotland. Based ideally in Stirling, we also welcome applications from candidates in Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a field-based role, requiring flexibility, frequent travel, and occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct field measurements of water quantity, depth, quality, and rainfall.

• Install, operate, and maintain telemetry logging equipment.

• Travel to various sites across the UK and work in outdoor conditions.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

• Passion for working outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Strong swimming skills and confidence working in water.

• Comfortable working at heights, including the use of ladders, and in confined spaces.

• Proficient in computer applications (MS Office, particularly Word and Excel).

• Awareness of health and safety protocols and potential risks.

• GCSEs or equivalent in Geography, Maths, and English, or an environmental-related discipline.

• Full UK driver's licence (held for 12+ months) with a clean driving history.

• Comfortable with extended travel, including long-distance driving and overnight stays.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and approaches.

Training desirable but not essential:

• Working at height.

• Confined space entry.

• First aid at work.

• Water safety and hygiene.

• Hydrometric techniques.

• SSSTS (Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme).

• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).

Attributes and Aptitude:

• Self-motivated and proactive.

• Dependable and flexible.

• Strong communicator with the ability to work to deadlines.

• Passion for the water and environmental sector.

• Team player who can also work independently.

• Adaptable to a dynamic and changing environment.
