Position Overview
This is a skilled position requiring the individual to manage all aspects of the construction project. This includes creating a project budget using project specifications to accurately project the number of materials, equipment, and labor hours that must be utilized in order to complete a given project.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, material,
equipment, production, and labor estimates.
• Prepare preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed estimates based on final plans and
specifications.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Maintain current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct
contact and written materials.
• Prepare bid packages, estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids for projects of any size and
complexity.
• Physically measure, assess the condition, and formalize estimates for commercial projects.
• Participate in the bidding process.
• Manage projects awarded from scheduling, resource allocation, cost projections, and billing.
• Check daily cost sheets for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget, find out why
and report to management.
• Prior to job startup, review with the job foreman the project plans, specifications and review the project
startup list to ensure that each item is done.
• Verifying that job quantities are correct and submitted to Estimating with the appropriate coding.
• And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, other related discipline and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities.
• 5 years of experience in customer estimating preferred.
Work Requirements
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Bid 2 Win preferred but not required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
• Report to the office dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (up to 25% of the time).
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
• Ability to read blueprints and project specifications.
• Ability to compute, rate, percent, land to draw, and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach, work well in a team.
• Strong skill in planning and organization, as well as skills in project management.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
