Position Overview

Coordinate and supervise daily functions pertaining to safety and DOT compliance

WAGE RANGE: $18.50 to $24.00 dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Review daily record of duty status for hours of service violations, falsifications and form and manner errors.

• Propose edits to daily record as needed and track individual driver performance relative to compliance with all DOT regulations.

• Submit all documentation timely to Corporate Compliance.

• Issue coaching and counseling to drivers to achieve regulatory compliance and a culture of safety.

• Conduct post accident safety investigations

• Maintain department Safety boards and work with local Safety Manager on projects and/or duties as assigned

• Ensure Roadside inspections are handled per company and DOT regulations

• Ensure all post accident paperwork and accident reports are accurately filled out and scanned appropriately and timely

• Conduct coaching and training on driver drive cam events

• Consult and train drivers on DOT regulations.

• Track, monitor, and update department safety procedures, drug safety program, and driver qualifications files.

• Actively participate in quarterly safety meetings. Recommend topics for agenda based on performance metrics, observations and accident investigations.

• Incidents must be reported promptly to the direct supervisor.

• And other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• Education - High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred

• 3+ years of DOT experience working directly with CDL drivers

• CDL Class B Required with Air Brakes

Skills & Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service

• Must work in a safe and effective manner

• Timely and regular attendance is required.

• Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources

• Accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays

• Ability to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately after training (such as computer, handheld tracker, copiers, scanners, printers, radio headsets, etc.)

• Read, write, perform basic math computations, identify, and verify numbers

• Work in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment

• Work in a collaborative team environment and partner across departments

• Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors, as well as drivers, to positively affect productivity and morale

Physical Demands & Equipment:

• Must be able to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

• Must be able to sit on an almost continual basis and frequently stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift one's own body weight in a variety of environments, including but not limited to office, warehouse, outdoors, commercial vehicles

• Frequent to continual usage of keyboard and monitor

• Able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toe protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc)
