Summary:

The Director of Total Rewards leads and strategically directs the HR sub-functions of Compensation, Benefits, and HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) to be in alignment with the overall business strategy. This position administers and maintains all aspects of the compensation program for all employees across the US and Canada, including job descriptions, job classifications, and job frameworks. This team works closely with the corporate benefits team to administer all US benefit plans and serves as the conduit for Canadian pension and benefits. The position has oversight for the overall integrity of the HRIS system and maintains all HR-related systems and reporting needs for the business. The Director of Total Rewards also manages the company-wide relocation and recognition programs. This position works closely with payroll to ensure pay is administered according to all laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Leads and directs work of sub-functional teams for benefits, compensation, and HRIS.
  • Works closely with IT, finance, and payroll teams to ensure proper payment of wages, benefits, and programs throughout the business.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to provide insights, and solutions to support and drive the business within the sub-functional areas of responsibility.
  • Drives operational efficiencies & process improvement processes within compensation, benefit, and HRIS.

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Supports compensation team with direction and oversight of compensation programs including job leveling, bonus programs, governance, and pay recommendations.
  • Drives HRIS roadmap working closely with IT and external vendors to achieve the desired state of HR systems and reporting.
  • Provides oversight to the Benefits Manager while supporting Americas-wide benefit programs in place and ensuring a positive employee experience.
  • Oversees employee data management processes to ensure that data is secure and maintained consistent with company policies and privacy regulations.
  • Responsible for HR data and reporting; establishes and uses consistent data points to proactively present data to leadership.
  • Participates in, conducts, and purchases exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Ensures that detailed job descriptions and classification systems are maintained and define job levels and families in partnership with other managers.
  • Administers annual merit and short-term incentive plans, participants, and awards to ensure proper accruals, calculations, and communications.
  • Ensures that annual HR reporting is done and submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Maintains awareness by attending professional association meetings and seminars.
  • Reads journals and magazines concerning human resource management issues, especially those regarding compensation and employment practices.
  • Attracts, selects, and develops talent to meet current and future business needs.
  • Motivates team and aligns work; creates a sense of belonging and strong team morale.
  • Fosters an environment of innovation, idea sharing,g and utilizing technology for the betterment of the team and business.
  • Oversees and manages the Educational Assistance Program, Scholarship Program, relocation services, and company recognition program.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.


To succeed in this position, you will need: (Education, Experience, Other Requirements, Travel)

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum 4 Year - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Certified Compensation Professional, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR
  • Minimum 10 Years of experience in compensation management, human resource management, management, business administration, HRIS, or a related area of concentration.
  • Knowledge of job analysis, job description, job evaluation, performance-based incentive programs, motivation, and goal-setting theories, and other aspects of compensation.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems
  • Knowledge of US benefit plans, common language, and laws and regulations related to benefits administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office365, common HRIS and payroll systems, and computer applications
  • Ability to manage ambiguity within changing conditions and environment
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and anticipate the impact of change; acts accordingly to gain buy-in from the team
  • Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
  • Ability to empower others by inviting inputs and sharing ownership
  • Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently
  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to ba road audience, including executive team
  • Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Domestic Travel up to 10%
