Job Summary
The role of the Americas Security Director is to provide dedicated security support to our businesses in the US, Canada and Mexico. This will include the expansion and management of security processes and procedures and providing timely and consistent security reports and advice to our client's leadership in North America. The position will report to the Group Security Director, and work closely with Health and Safety, Legal, HR, Information Security and Group Strategy. There is one Security Manager reporting to the Director position at this time. A significant amount of travel throughout the region should be expected monthly.

Job Responsibilities
In the region and under the lead of the Group Security Director and our client's senior leadership, support the delivery of security services for the protection of our client's people, assets, operations and brand. Facilitate local security, conduct/support security investigations, and contribute to the development and delivery of group security strategy, programs and priorities and the response to incidents. Be a part of our client's group security network, sharing best practices and offering support where practical. Further responsibilities include:
- Response to security incidents and crisis management.
- Develop, establish and train personnel in local crisis response teams.
- M aintain and improve a travel and event security program, including obtaining clarity on the number of domestic and international travelers and their itineraries.
- Ensure immediate response and information to travelers in crisis emergency situations.
- Act as security adviser in the event of a crisis, in close cooperation with the local crisis management team.
- Identify and evaluate threats, vulnerabilities and consequent risks to our client's personnel, physical security of information, assets and operations.
- Respond to requests for advice and assistance from function and line management by means of security visits, surveys, investigations and briefings.
- Develop and maintain security awareness, education and training including facilitating seminars and workshops.
- Develop and maintain effective relations with business management and develop security accountability and professionalism.
- Develop and maintain appropriate liaison with law enforcement, intelligence and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct security investigations work as assigned.
- Support the development and manage the implementation and continuous refinement of security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security protocols.
- Provide subject matter expertise on regional security issues to senior management for the benefit of all operations (including establishment/acquisition of new sites and physical security of sites).
- Maintain and expand a culture of security awareness and prevent security incidents.
- Play a central role from a security focus in the development and updating of crisis management, business continuity and business recovery plans.
- Establish and maintain intelligence networks and relationships regionally with law enforcement and other related government/intelligence agencies. Gather regional intelligence to understand, identify and address any threats against the company.
- Provide proactive leadership on emerging security issues and threats as warranted by current events and trends.
- Produce regular reports on security program operations, incidents, and compliance to the Group Security Director and regional business leadership.
- Oversee key outsourced security vendors to ensure delivery of high quality and cost- effective services and products.
- Maintain and expand security instructions, procedures and education.
- Conduct internal and external (towards our client) criminal investigations.
- Support background investigations of individuals applying for employment and others who seek a business relationship.
- Quality control of our client's local security set- ups.
- Support and conduct site reviews of the security operations in the region.
- Support security risk evaluations and site annual risk assessments.
- Recommend security risk mitigation actions.
- Support the Executive Protection program.
- Support programs in how to safeguard confidential material.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years' experience as a protective security practitioner within a law enforcement or military role. A minimum of 5 years of which are at a senior level with strategic responsibilities. The incumbent will typically have a law enforcement, military or intelligence background and a CPP certification or comparable education (or combination of these).
- Wide technical, practical and legal background based on 10+ years of experience within the police, military or intelligence services.
- Organizational and managerial experience in a global corporate company.
- Professional and documented experience in building security programs that are clearly recognized as effective, pragmatic operations.
- Demonstrable ability to manage outsourced operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience in leading regional investigations.
- Ability to travel extensively.
