The Customer Service Representative position is responsible for functions including but not limited to having a good understanding of the ready-mix, construction, asphalt, paving and sand & gravel business. The Customer Service Representative needs to be familiar with the delivery area and must be able to assist lost drivers in finding jobsites, determine travel times to jobs and determine best plant location to service job. Needs to be familiar with different truck capacities, plant loading capacities, and what products are available at the various plants and sites.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
• Answer the phone promptly with a pleasant and accommodating tone of voice.
• Take the customer orders in a detailed, timely and professional manner and record accurate delivery and product information on the order.
• Deliver top notch customer service company foremen, all plants/worksites, as well as outside customers.
• Build rapport with customers and establish good working business relationships
• Keep the needs and requirements of the construction division and customers first and foremost.
• See that proper materials and adequate inventory levels are maintained at sites.
• Must be aware of special jobsite conditions that require specific trucks, spacing, slump requirements, etc.
• Accurately record, maintain, and review driver time cards.
• Log driver service hours.
• Schedule random drug tests and Department of Transportation physicals for drivers.
• Screen applicants for qualified employees for positions company-wide.
• Work closely with maintenance shops to schedule equipment repairs and services.
• Work closely with payroll to ensure all time cards are entered properly.
• Hold weekly driver meetings for all truck drivers to discuss issues.
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience
• Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. AA degree or college level experience preferred.
• Valid state driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
• Two to four years of experience working in a dispatching environment.
Work Requirements
• Must be 18 years in age or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
• Demonstrated, effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.
• Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, copiers, ten key adding machine, printers, etc.
• Proficiency in personal computers/word processing, spreadsheets/databases, and relevant software packages.
• Ability to accurately schedule trucks for foremen's daily use and schedule transports for efficient equipment moves.
• Knowledge of asphalt, paving, construction, sand & gravel, and ready mix business.
• Ability to analyze issues independently.
• Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
• Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, talk and hear.
Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
