What you'll be contributing:
Operates the control console under general supervision, adhering to established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include starting and stopping all process equipment, adjusting controls for kilns, mills, and other machinery to ensure high-quality production while maintaining safety and environmental compliance. Provides clear verbal instructions to Production personnel and other plant staff as necessary to support safe, productive, and efficient operations.
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Accountable for personnel and equipment safety, emissions, production rate, and other process variables as assigned
- Work with the production staff, keeping them constantly informed of changes or problems that occur during the shift.
- Observes all safety rules, wears appropriate personal protective equipment and keeps work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
- Works with the Environmental manager in the execution of environmental testing on equipment
- Dispatches production employees or other plant personnel as needed to observe equipment and assess and/or resolve equipment and process problems
- Monitor and interpret process parameters on all equipment in the plant, such as temperatures, pressures, flow rates, vibrations, etc...
- Coordinate with the maintenance department on equipment statuses for LOTOTO, repair progress, and any equipment issues
- Submits work request to maintain the reliability of equipment
- Work in cooperation with Lab personnel in the effort to produce quality products. This may include cross training and running samples with Lab personnel to effectively learn the chemistry of clinker and cement products and by-products
- Operate equipment including, but not limited to the Material Transportation Systems, Roller Mills, Precalciners, Coal Mills, Kilns, Coolers, Finish Mills and Utility Equipment
- Able to interpret operations based on process charts, and graphs
- Works towards achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) by setting targets, monitoring progress, and implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
- Prepare reports regarding operations and silo inventories in a timely and accurate manner
- The ability to operate two separate kiln systems
- Answer incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner and direct calls as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.

To succeed in this position, you will need:
- High school graduation or equivalent is required, related bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cement production and thorough knowledge of the kiln process
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Willingness to learn, training will be provided
- Must be able to work rotating shift- days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Proficiency in computer operations, including familiarity with Windows, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Wonderware applications, is required.
- Proficiency in fundamental mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, is required.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally or written, with all plant personnel across all areas of the plant.
- Demonstrates strong teamwork skills by collaborating effectively with colleagues, contributing to group efforts, and supporting team goals.
- Must have leadership skills and the ability to fill in for the Production Supervisor if required
- Must have a basic understanding of raw material, clinker, and cement chemistry.
- Knowledge of all operation systems including the functions of processing equipment.
- Must successfully complete on-the-job training provided by designated supervision or otherwise qualified individuals.
What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
