This is a temporary, entry-level position assignment projected to last 18-24 months.
Pay: $20.00 an hour, depending on experience.
Position Overview

This job is a key position in the accounting department helping process payments and adjustments to customer accounts.

The position will also handle other duties as assigned.

  • Work in a high-volume accounting department.
  • Must be a self-starter with attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and meet short deadlines.
  • Post deposit receipts in accounting software and apply funds daily to appropriate customer accounts. Generate, scan, review, submit for approval, and file all required deposit reports and back up. Maintain SOX compliance on deposit postings.
  • Reconcile payments in coordination with invoicing, sales, credit, and customers any unapplied amounts to customer accounts. Prepare and submit for approval discrepancy adjustment forms with back-up for adjustments requested on accounts. Maintain appropriate back-up documentation and scanned files for all adjustment batches.
  • Enter approved adjustments into accounting software. Generate, review, submit for approval, and scan files and reports required for adjustment reports and back up. Maintain SOX compliance.
  • Help to maintain Tax Exemptions certificates file in QuickBase.
  • Collaborates with credit department to resolve open customer deductions timely via communications with the sales department, credit department, and customers. Determine whether credit will be issued or if the deduction should be repaid.

  • Utilize customer service skills in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to achieve team goals.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience
  • Associate's degree in business preferred.
  • Accounting experience 1-3 years required.
  • Previous construction experience preferred.


Work Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications with the ability to learn new software systems as needed.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical(s).
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Strictly adhering to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Provide valid documentation of legal right to work.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Understanding of accounting practices.
  • Sufficient math understanding to complete the job requirements.
  • Proficient in 10 key operations.
  • Basic experience and knowledge of Accounts Receivable - Cash Applications and Billing including General Ledger account reconciliation, data entry, and cash applications experience a plus.
