PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Asphalt Plant Foreman position is responsible for the day to day operations of the hot mix asphalt facility including the following, but not limited to: communication with truck drivers; handling the aspects related to plant personnel and customers; scheduling and necessary plant maintenance. This position will report directly to the asphalt plant superintendent.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers;
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager;
- Responsible for managing plant personnel as well as scheduling and monitoring time worked;
- Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance is completed;
- Responsible for scheduling major repairs;
- Responsible for managing and monitoring aggregates, recycled asphalt products and recycled shingle products stock piles;
- Responsible for daily operations of hot mix asphalt plant and truck load out;
- Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing, and repair of plant to further their abilities;
- Knowledge in independently operating a hot mix asphalt facility;
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in asphalt and construction;
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to asphalt operations;
- Perform general laboring duties when necessary;
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up tools and equipment in order to eliminate potential hazards;
- Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies;
- Ability to communicate effectively;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; and
- All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required ;
- Two years of supervisory experience;
- Two years experience in asphalt operations;
- Basic knowledge of Excel and Word and Outlook;
- Basic knowledge in electricity and mechanics;
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check;
- Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical;
- Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times;
- Report to work at the designated start time;
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required;
- Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary;
- Be able to work overtime when required;
- Maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements;
- Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards;
- Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold;
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA;
- Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment; and
- Two years' experience in asphalt plant operations
- Welding experience preferred, not required.
