As a software engineer on our product engineering team, you'll get to lead a growing team at Credit Karma that works across various verticals (home, auto, personal loans, and credit cards). You'll impact a platform that is responsible for handling millions of members accessing their Credit Karma accounts, including registration, login, SMS 2FA, and account recovery.  Further, you’ll help build product experiences that guide our members through the most challenging financial decision of their lifetime: buying their dream home. From finding a realtor, understanding loan options, and applying to get pre-approved, we help our members every step of the way. There is an enormous opportunity to build things at scale, move fast, and have a high impact across many different products. Credit Karma's Engineering team helps our partners deliver certainty, transparency, and ease to all of our members and youll be apart of a team building a suite of partner-facing products to deliver a seamless experience to our members.

  • As a full-stack software engineer, you will contribute to a wide variety of projects that power our business and help deliver value to our members.
  • We have a wide array of challenges — from building scalable systems to supporting new product features, to launching new experiences on both desktop and mobile web.
  • You’ll be a member of a small cross-functional scrum team and get involved in every aspect of the product development cycle.
  • You’ll work closely with product,design, and other engineers/teams and be in charge of the development of your product features--you'll figure out how they should be architected, design the DB schema, write the code, write the unit tests, and make sure that loose ends are tied up.
  • We are a growing Engineering team, yet we offer a great deal of autonomy and flexibility.
  • Identifying ways to improve our technology and process
  • Participating in code and technical design reviews

What we are looking for:

  • 5 to 8+ years of professional experience in at least one dynamic server-side language: TypeScript, Scala, Java, or similar
  • Experience in React, AngularJS or similar frameworks
  • Experience with GraphQL and Google Cloud a plus
  • A solid foundation in OOP, design patterns, algorithms, programming languages, networking and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of deployment strategies and production infrastructure needs.
  • Extensive experience in application scalability at any application tier.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • You bring a strong sense of empathy, while still being able to challenge the status quo.
  • You're comfortable moving fast, and agile.
  • Opinionated and still able to compromise.
