Short Description

In collaboration with the Director and IR Manager, plans and implements management and operational strategies, goals, and objectives appropriate to Interventional Radiology operations. To create consistent engagement with IR technologist, nurses and radiologist, the supervisor shall foster and adhere to a collaborative team driven culture. Oversees, organizes staff schedules and evaluates assigned technologist in specific areas or shifts in IR. IR Supervisor Interviews, hires, disciplines, and makes authoritative recommendations with regard to discharging staff. Oversees and ensures adequate supply are available for interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Performs interventional procedure when necessary.

 

Monitors activity of all IR Technologist, patient volume and equipment:
• Ensure technologist are performing tasks as outlined in standards of performance in departmental procedures and takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies and reports and continuing problems to the Manager with recommendations for rectification of problems.
• Establishes work priorities, in accordance with established daily assignments, or work assignments in response to patient load or malfunctioning equipment.
• Monitors patient volume to assure that staff is assigned to provide peak efficiency. Adjust technical staff’s schedule so that there is always adequate coverage for the performance of departmental functions. Flex staff down when patient volume warrants.
• Perform Interventional and therapeutic procedures when volume and staffing levels warrant.

• Prepares and maintains work schedules, adjusting schedule as necessary to work out difficulties caused by illness, vacations, emergence situations, backlog of patient, examinations, etc.
• Ensure PTO policy is followed to ensuring the appropriate number of staff are off simultaneously to minimize negative impact on operations does not occur. 
Participates in maintenance and safety programs for equipment. 
• Reviews all equipment logbooks monthly and brings any continuing problems to the attention of the Administrative Director. 
• Initiates corrective action with the various technical service companies as equipment problems are encountered. 
• Makes visual inspection of each room weekly to check for Mechanical malfunctions, lose or frayed wires, and proper operation of equipment.
• Document all weekly inspections and corrective actions taken and bring unresolved problems to the attention of the clinical supervisor.
• Ensure all preventative maintenance is done on all equipment in appropriate time frame. 
Reviews supplies used against work performed. Monitors both present and future supply needs and takes action to acquire necessary supplies. Ensures supplies are always available within the IR department daily.
Develops and maintains cooperative working relationship with physicians’ nurses and patient care departments to gather and exchange information, resolve problems such as, lost radiology film, and improve services provided.
Reviews employee timecards, calculating time worked and ensuring time off is appropriately recorded. May authorize overtime work for subordinates depending on assigned shifts.
Performs employee evaluations of all personnel using standards of performance. 
Recommends personnel actions such as promoting, discipline, hiring and changes in pay.
Ensure regulatory and Joint commission compliance and readiness.
Performs all other duties and functions necessary for the maintenance of efficient, economic, and quality operation of the department.

 

 

 


Experience Required

3-5 years experience preferred


Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred

Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience


License/Certification Requirements

ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) 
Current BLS.
NJDEP license
