Summary:

The Director of Research Data Science & Analytics is responsible for leading this division of Cook Children's Research Administration Office (RAO). The division is composed of a team of clinical scientists who implement science, technology, and analytics to advance clinical research at Cook Children's. This leader serves as a key point of contact between Cook Children's Research Administration Office (RAO) and Information Services (IS) for safe and effective use of protected information and technology. The Director leads the development, implementation, and utilization of new and legacy research databases and programs/projects to support clinical research studies in partnership with the IS team. The Director is responsible for policies, procedures, and strategic plans for the development and growth of the data science and analytics infrastructure. The Director stays current in clinical research practices, good clinical practices, OHRP, and FDA regulations, incorporating this knowledge into system planning and deployment, and serves as a knowledgeable resource about the clinical research study process and procedures at Cook Children's.

Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree required and 7 years' experience in effectively managing data, conducting statistical analysis and interpretation, medical and grant writing, or study design and 3 years' experience in a management role is required.
  • Position requires an individual with:
  • Demonstrated experience in building or working with complex databases for clinical and research use;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology;
  • Knowledge of principles of research and federal regulations; Strong organizational skills; A record of publication in peer-reviewed journals;
  • A demonstrated record of independent research activity;
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to reach administrative, technical, and clinical audiences;
  • Previous management experience.
