Summary:
The Cardiac/EP Cath Lab Nurse Coordinators primary duty is to manage the care and treatment of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization diagnostic, interventional, and cardiac arrhythmias in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. The nursing care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of treatment. The nurse acts as a liaison between the patient, family, physicians, catheterization staff, and Heart Center program. The nurse is responsible for identification of cardiac dysrhythmias, assisting with the management and treatment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias, pacemakers, and/or defibrillators, schedules procedures, provides admission and discharge instructions, and counsels patients and families throughout the process.

Education:
- Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
- Bachelors Degree preferred. If applicant has an ADN must be enrolled in BSN program within one year of accepting position and must complete BSN within 3 years.
- 2 Years relevant specialty experience required (knowledge of congenital heart disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology)
- Demonstrated skill in patient care, communication, and interpersonal relationships.
- Skilled in patient education.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current State License RN
- BLS Certified
- PALS certified (if not current, must obtain within one year of employment)
