Summary:

The Patient Access Specialist I provide access to services provided at the hospital and/or clinic and is primarily responsible for facilitating the patient registration flow and establishing positive relationships with patients/families and completing, presenting and thoroughly explaining legal, ethical and compliance related documents to the patient. This position does not provide patient care but may be performed in a patient care area.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of Healthcare experience in a physician office or hospital setting.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Understanding of the revenue cycle and all appropriate financial resources for patients.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, HIPAA, HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payers and all tasks performed in the various Patient Access Service areas.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Professional and clear communication.
  • Working knowledge of computer skills.
  • Basic understanding of insurance benefits especially in-network versus out of network and co-insurance versus co-pay.
  • Basic ability to balance cash reports.
  • Basic understanding of legal paperwork.
  • Basic typing/keyboarding.

  • Wednesday to Sunday: 11am to 7:30pm
