Summary:
As a Nurse Residency Manager, you are responsible for the oversight of a 12-month CCNE accredited entry-to-practice nurse residency program that enhances the transition of new graduate registered nurses to professional practice. Knowing these new nurses will care for pediatric patients, you are driven by the Cook Children's Promise to improve the well-being of every child in our care and our communities. Your leadership and education skills will enable you to mentor and coach as you clinically and professionally equip new nurses to provide high quality care and positive experiences for patients and families. You are highly motivated to ensure compliance with CCNE accreditation standards while developing and implementing curriculum, evaluating and reporting program outcomes, and serving as a manager for new graduate nurses hired into our residency program.

How you make a difference: You are a leader and champion for new graduate nurses rising to the peak of professional practice as guided by the Cook Children's Promise and values. You engage with qualified candidates with an interest in pediatric nursing. You enjoy collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to design and implement curriculum that builds upon undergraduate nursing education principles and aligns with the CCNE accreditation standards. You will rely upon your clinical nursing skills, education expertise, and leadership competencies to support and manage new nurses in a variety of practice settings throughout Cook Children's. You will foster clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and the spirit of inquiry to help nurse residents provide evidence-based, high quality, and safe patient care. As nurse residents are hired into one of three specialty tracks (medical/surgical subspecialty, perioperative, or critical/intermediate care) you will enhance their professional engagement through self-care, mentorship, commitment, and life-long learning.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Master's degree in nursing education, Health Care Leadership, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience
- Experience as a clinical educator or nursing instructor
- Strong computer skills with competency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with curriculum development, program design, and evaluation strongly preferred
- Administrative role with learning management system strongly preferred
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
- License to practice nursing within the state of Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor required within first year of position
