Summary:

As a Data Engineer at Cook Children's, you'll play a key role in building and optimizing data pipelines and integrations to support our Knowledge Management and Data Operations. You'll design, test, and manage data flows and architecture that power analytics, dashboards, and data products across the organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop scalable data pipelines to enable insights and data products
  • Architect data solutions involving data ingestion, transformation, and storage
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and efficiency through best practices
  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers and BI developers to align data solutions with business goals
  • Support both cloud-based and on-premises data systems and work with modern data sources, including APIs, real-time, and unstructured data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business or related/relevant degree AND minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, BI Developer, Software Engineer, Programmer, Technical or Systems Analysts, and/or Database Administrator preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED AND minimum of 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, BI Developer, Software Engineer, Programmer, Technical or Systems Analysts, and/or Database Administrator preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Information Technology required.

Preferred Skill and Experience:

  • Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, data lake, data warehouse) and tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data insights for business impact.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification:

  • Epic certification(s) a plus, and may be required upon hire or within six months of hire date based on the primary responsibilities/focus of the role.
  • Preferred Epic certification(s) include Cogito Systems Administration, Caboodle-Clarity Development, Caboodle Development, Clarity Data Model, Clinical Data Model, Revenue Cycle Data Model, Access Data model, and/or Caboodle Data Model.
  • Snowflake and/or Microsoft certification(s) a plus.
  • • ther relevant data engineering certification(s) a plus.
