Skipton - Within commuting distance of Skipton

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer to join our IT Development Team, based at our Skipton office on a permanent basis. Whilst this is predominantly remote working, there will be a requirement to travel to the Skipton office approximately two to three times per month and for the occasional event. Therefore, you will need to be within a reasonable commute of this office.

This position sits within our Computershare Loan Services Business (CLS) and is an industry leader in mortgage servicing solutions for the financial services industry.

Working within a cross-functional technical development team to deliver new or enhanced capabilities across a portfolio of applications and supporting frameworks. This role requires you to collaborate with stakeholders to design, build, test and deploy well-implemented, high-quality solutions which satisfy expectations and deliver value.

Key roles and responsibilities, include, but are not limited to;

• • Provide informal guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team's objectives.

• • Ensure the quality of tasks, services and information provided by your team - through the quality of your own work and the support you provide to others - to ensure that your team delivers high-quality, maintainable software which adheres to internal standards and policies.

• • Support the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimise their impact on the team's delivery and/or supported products.

• • Embrace and support improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience.

• • Communicate effectively with a variety of technical and non-technical audiences to: share knowledge and ideas; provide updates; influence; challenge; and take on feedback.

What will you bring to the role?

We're looking for someone with a track record in developing and delivering production ready systems, using industry best practices and SOLID principals to ensure it is clean, secure, efficient and maintainable.

You will be an analytical thinker with great attention to detail, to be able to identify and escalate risks or issues that may arise.

You will be a collaborative person who enjoys working as part of a team and is able to discuss challenges in a way that helps others to understand and work through them. Of course, a large part of this role is working with the wider business, so the ability to build effective working relationships with people at all levels is also required.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in a range of technologies such as .NET (C#), SQL, HTML, XML, CSS, SOAP and REST services, MVC, ASP .NET, WCF and/or Microservices.

Other required skills, experience and competencies include;

• • Experience of application development and support within a complex enterprise context and with architectures spanning multiple technologies.

• • Experience in an Agile development and/or DevOps environment, encouraging the adoption and continuous improvement of practices including (but not limited to) automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery.

• • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred.
