This is a hybrid position primarily based in our Edinburgh office, centrally located in St Andrews Square.

A role you will love

The DevOps Practice Lead will work closely with software development and IT teams to establish and maintain continuous delivery pipelines, automate processes, and improve operational efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud environments and experience with tools such as Kubernetes, Azure DevOps and Terraform.

This role is pivotal in ensuring that software deployments are smooth, infrastructure is scalable, and the organization's digital operations are secure and efficient. The DevOps Practice Lead is also responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration between operations, security and the development community.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Lead the DevSecOps Team: Oversee the planning, design, development, and deployment of software in collaboration with partners in security and operations.


  • Foster a DevSecOps Culture: Promote a culture of shared responsibility for quality and security among development and operations teams, providing training and resources to support this cultural shift. Balance flexibility with the need for governance and compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks early in the development process and implement strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.


  • Implement DevSecOps Processes: Maintain the lifecycle, ensuring the implementation of processes and automation of manual tasks for continuous delivery. Streamline and optimize the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline, ensuring rapid and reliable deployment of secure software. Identify issues in production and implement monitoring solutions to maintain high availability of environments.


  • Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, conduct research, and apply new techniques to the delivery of software.


  • Training and Guidance: Conduct training sessions for the team members and develop self-service solutions for the engineering department and the wider community.


  • Security in DevSecOps: Ensure security needs are adequately addressed throughout the development process. Develop and implement automated security checks and balances to ensure continuous and proactive security improvements.

What will you bring to the role?

As you take on leadership of the DevOps practice globally, you will have to come with previous experience of running teams in different continents and time zones.

In addition, you will have previous experience in a delivery engineer role facing up to the challenges that come with it.

Other key skills required for the role include:

  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record in leading teams or projects, with a focus on DevSecOps or related areas.


  • Strong Knowledge of DevSecOps Practices: Ability to create software deployment strategies. Deep understanding of integrating development, security, and operations practices within a continuous delivery pipeline.


  • Proficiency in Automation Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and security automation tools (e.g., SonarQube, OWASP ZAP).


  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify and mitigate security and operational risks. Skilled in troubleshooting and improving system health and performance.


  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and promote a culture of shared responsibility for operational and security excellence.


  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in technologies such as MS SQL, Azure, .NET, Java, Kubernetes, MongoDB, etc.
