This is a hybrid position primarily based in our Edinburgh office, centrally located in St Andrews Square.

A role you will love

As a Data Architect, you will be key to shaping the platforms, governance and design patterns that ensure the organisation can drive value through data. Your role involves not just technical expertise in a range of data and analytics tools, but also the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure the right architecture for the future organisation demands.

You will ensure the effective design and patterns of use of our Data Platform. Your expertise in developing and delivering enterprise-class data solutions will be pivotal in defining and articulating designs to their architecture and development teams and communicating these solutions to business stakeholders.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Designing and embedding Data Platform Patterns including Data Governance, Analytics, Engineering, master data management and Visualisation in a Cloud and SaaS ecosystem, ideally using Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Purview, Azure Machine learning, Power BI.


  • Experience of supporting a wider operation Data Architecture incorporating reference / golden sources, data flow and wider catalogue management.


  • Data Governance: Implementing robust data governance controls, maintaining data integrity and compliance in data platforms.


  • Fintech and Financial Services Experience: Experience in designing platform patterns which incorporate the need for agility with the regulatory driven requirement for privacy and security.


  • Partner Collaboration: Work closely with analytics partners and delivery teams, build understanding, compliance and capability in a federated development environment.


  • Optimization and Experimentation: Drive optimization and a culture of hypothesis-based experimentation, focusing on customer experience, revenue growth, and cost savings. Encourage and enable other teams to adopt an experimentation mindset.


  • Agile Development: Demonstrate experience working with teams that deliver software using Agile methodologies, ensuring agility and responsiveness in our data and analytics endeavours.

What will you bring to the role?

As you take on the Data Solution Architect role, you will have to come with previous experience of working with big data platforms such as Hadoop and Spark.

Other key skills required for the role include:

  • Extensive experience in data architecture and analytics platform solutions, preferably in a fintech or financial services environment.
  • Expertise in all things data including lifecycle, technologies, data-patterns, insights, analytics and machine learning, master and master data management, integration, data warehousing, data quality, metadata, and data compliance.
  • Strong understanding of data governance and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Experience of architectural tool and technic including TOGAF, ArchiMate and LeanIX would be desirable.
