The Finance function is responsible for providing transactional accounting services; treasury, financial planning, analysis, reporting and commercial finance support to all business units and functions throughout Computershare, across all global locations. The Billing Team Leader role operates within this function at a regional level and must deliver billing services in the UK for Computershare Communication Services (CCS) Billing. These services are to be delivered against strict internal, legal, regulatory and customer requirements.

A role you will love

The Team Leader manages a group of senior billers and billing specialists within the UK Billing Operations Team. They are responsible for leading, supporting, and coaching the team in both operational and project work, and liaising with business contacts. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring complete and accurate revenue reporting, within the context of services provided by their team. The Billing Operations team is responsible for processing billing transactions and confirming intercompany and external client invoices in accordance with service level agreements and client fee schedules.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for services provided by the team, tied to Service Level Agreements where available

• Provide timely and accurate KPI reporting to manager(s) and internal clients

• Set performance objectives for team/individuals, and provide ongoing feedback on performance

• Create personal development and/or succession plans for all team members to ensure personal growth and long-term department stability

• Provide support to users within Billing and other teams. This may include:

o developing and coaching Subject Matter Experts within the team

o ensuring documentation and training materials are current and effective

o providing training to Sr. Biller and billing specialists

o availability to handle complex situations and serve as extra capacity during high volume periods

o responding to requests for information and escalations

o leading small projects and process improvement initiatives

o participating as an SME in larger projects

o be a facilitator for change, including identifying enhancement opportunities and challenging the status quo, to improve the operation of the CPU Billing function

• Coordinate tasks and delegate responsibilities within the team with the objective that the team and processes run effectively and efficiently

Other key skills required for the role include:

• Experience in the financial services industry

• Supervisory experience, preferably in Shared Services Accounting

• Experience in project administration is an asset

• Knowledge of Computershare products/services and systems is preferred

• Intermediate Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's) desired

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operations of the billing team, including task allocation, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of billing tasks, such as invoice generation, payment processing, and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with the Billing Manager to develop and implement process improvements, identify areas for automation, and drive team efficiency.
  • Provide support and guidance to team members, addressing questions, resolving issues, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Finance, and Customer Success teams, to align on billing needs and resolve any customer-related billing queries.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of billing policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
  • Participate in system enhancements and implementations, providing input on billing requirements and testing to ensure accurate functionality.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely reports on billing metrics, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct regular audits of billing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in a billing or finance role, preferably in a high-growth SaaS company.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Extensive knowledge of billing processes, including invoice generation, payment processing, and revenue recognition.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace, with experience in using billing software or ERP systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex billing concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs.
  • Experience with SaaS subscription models, revenue recognition principles, and international taxation regulations is a plus.
