Join our mission today.Associate Director, Engineering - Networking & Emerging Capabilities Software Technology (Onsite)Role Summary:Mission Systems Advanced Technology & Capabilities Engineering seeks an Associate Director Engineering Manager to lead the Communication and Navigation Technology - Networking & Emerging Capabilities Software Technology organization. We solve defense customers' critical problems through cutting-edge networking & software innovations that we integrate with other battlespace connectivity technologies. • Lead a team of highly innovative engineers in the invention, development, and demonstration of new software-based networking/waveform/emerging concepts and capabilities.
• Oversee the execution of externally funded programs and IR&D projects, striving for 100% customer satisfaction.
• Lead collaboration with cross-discipline teams to integrate and demonstrate advanced networking & emerging capabilities.
• Develop and execute a networking technology roadmap, maintaining awareness of technology and Collins' competitive positions.
• Work across the business to drive capture of technology programs, leading to collaboration with major universities and DoD laboratories on groundbreaking research & demonstration projects.
• Develop innovation strategies via collaboration with external agencies, internal customers and partner organizations across the company.
• Collaborate with personnel across Mission Systems and RTX to set strategic direction, support technology transition planning, and recommend projects for independent research & development (IR&D).
• Develop and nurture internal and external networks, forging relationships with peers within Mission Systems Engineering, Business Development, and Value Stream leadership.
• Travel for customer and stakeholder engagements (up to 15%).

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience.
• Knowledge of embedded systems & software development and networking capability implementation for defense applications such as software defined radios and intelligent gateways.
• Knowledge of techniques that enable operation in contested environments.
• Expertise in mobile ad-hoc networks or tactical datalinks.
• Experience leading technical teams with a passion for challenging and developing people.
• Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic team leader.
• Experience supporting pursuit, order & capture activities.
• Knowledge of current industry trends.
• Demonstrated capability in a fast-paced, dynamic, creative work environment.

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance or higher is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

• Prior experience leading technology research, development & demonstrations.
• Experience leading pursuit, order & capture activities for research programs.
• Extensive experience in networking capability architecture, design, modeling & simulation.
• In-depth knowledge of COTS networking concepts and technologies across all layers of stack, including but not limited to IPv4, IPv6, Routing, Multicast, NAT, TCP, UDP, OLSR, OSPF, IPSec, VPN, ACLs, QoS, etc.
• Knowledge of commercial wireless technologies such as 5G
• Operational knowledge of embedded operating systems (Linux at minimum) and network services / utilities such as Apache HTTP server, iptables, php, ssh, etc.
• Familiar with electronic warfare and position, navigation & timing (PNT) systems.
• Familiar with Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning techniques.
• Familiar with cybersecurity concepts and cryptographic subsystems.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret with SCI security clearance prior to start date.
• Special Access Programs experience.
