Reporting to Coinbase’s Head of Technical Accounting Policy, this role will lead the Company’s statutory financial reporting function and be an integral component of Finance’s risk management and reporting process, driving consistent application of accounting policy and financial reporting across the Company. The candidate will combine this with exceptional soft skills necessary to be successful in this role including: being able to manage through ambiguity, executing against tight deadlines, maintaining strong relationships with finance and business partners and able to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously, doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Lead the preparation of all statutory board reporting materials, and quarterly and annual financial statements under U.S. GAAP and international accounting standards, including drafting and review of disclosures and other materials included within the financial statements.
- Coordinate audit support & review financial statements with external auditors, and senior members of the finance team.
- Assist in coordinating the approval of financial statements with all relevant parties, including statutory boards, external auditors, and internal and external legal counsel.
- Maintain annual reporting calendar to actively manage and inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for financial reports.
- Responsible for the management of statutory reporting team.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of process improvements as appropriate, to simplify, standardize and streamline processes.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Strong accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience. Current or recent financial reporting experience is a plus.
- Combination of private and public accounting experience preferred.
- CPA or similar designation required.
Nice to haves:
- Familiarity and experience with reporting tools, and financial systems such as Netsuite and Workiva (W-Desk).
- Crypto experience would be a plus.
