Coinbase is looking for a highly motivated Associate Manager, Tax Operations to be an integral member of our tax team, and join one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving industries, where every day brings new challenges and learning opportunities.
The Associate Manager will work directly with our Coinbase tax controllership and compliance team. Our tax team ensures that Coinbase complies fully with its tax obligations in all of the jurisdictions in which Coinbase operates. This includes providing for taxes accurately and completely in its financial statements and supporting business operations to ensure an optimal and efficient tax structure. We are a team passionate about tax and crypto, and we are looking for an ideal candidate to be at the forefront of tax innovation in the cryptocurrency space!
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Assist with key areas of the company’s tax controllership and compliance processes, focusing most prominently on tax provisioning and financial reporting
- Gain extensive experience to both domestic and international tax compliance and provision processes, contributing to solutions that keep pace with regulatory and financial reporting requirements globally
- Collaborate cross-functionally with different departments including Finance and Legal, contributing to projects that help optimize overall tax efficiency and compliance
- Assist with critical balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures
- Maintain up-to-date process documentation and procedures for all tasks, contributing and enhancing execution areas for a company that values innovation and continuous improvement
- Help shape best practices in tax controllership, particularly in a fast growing industry
- Provide assistance and support for internal and external audits related to specific areas of responsibility
- Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- CPA
- 5+ years of relevant tax experience
- Significant experience with ASC740 including the preparation of complex tax provisions
- Broad based technical tax experience
- Excellent speaking and communication skills while working with business teams and explaining tax concepts to both tax and non-tax audiences
- Outstanding detail-orientation and process-orientation skills
- Excellent analytical skills, business partnering, problem solving and prioritization skills
- Strong work ethic and team player
Nice to haves:
- Advanced degree in accounting and/or tax (MST, LLM)
- Experience with One Source Tax Provision and Tax Compliance
- Crypto industry experience
