The Quality Control technician is responsible for ensuring that product is within specification before and during filling by performing all required analytical test procedures. Self directed, organized, GMP focused individual with excellent time management skills capable of understanding production processes. The Quality Assurance technician also participates in troubleshooting problems with the laboratory testing equipment. Shift work is required for this position and weekend work may be available to support overtime as required, unless a continental shifting pattern is implemented.

Safety Training- Lockout Procedures, Electrical Safety Awareness, Emergency Response for Spills, Machine Safety and Awareness.

WHMIS Training.

HACCP Training.

Able to follow GMP guidelines.

Able to locate and read MSDS sheets

Communication skills to assist other lab technicians and production associates, communicating with management.

Knowledge of TMMCCI procedures and knowledge of WHMIS requirements in the area.

Knowledge of materials, parts, assembly requirements and quality standards.

Ability to direct and train other associates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to perform all test procedures as described in The Minute Maid Analytical Methods manual.
  • Sampling of products for testing and conformance to specifications for ingredients, pre-checks and finished product from the line.
  • Sample and inspect for conformance of packaging materials.
  • Microbiological sampling, plating and data interpretation of water , product, ingredients and processes.
  • Proper sample collection and retaining procedures.
  • Ability to make calculations and recommendations for batch adjustments.
  • Cleaning, routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of lab test equipment and procedures.
  • Monitor process parameters and report issues to Supervisors and Managers.
  • Preparation of analytical data in a complete, precise and professional manner.
  • Preparation of standard solutions for wet chemistry methods.
  • Maintain the lab in a clean state at all times.
  • To follow up on problem areas and to assist to final resolution- working with all QA technicians and Production associates in a team spirit.
  • Technical understanding of juices and the application of Good manufacturing Practices, WHMIS, cleaning procedures and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Proficient in multitasking and time management skills.
  • Able to log and record applicable results in quality control logs and records.
  • Test, record, and release tanker loads of sweeteners, OJ, red grape and essence.
  • Understanding of CIP procedures with relevant concentration testing and swabbing requirements.
  • Recording test results in the appropiate logs and performing relevant releases in SAP.
  • Understand the protocols and procedures required for controlling allergens.
  • Ability to implement nonconforming product and material procedures and protocols.
  • Participate and contribute to the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of The Coca-Cola Quality System (TCCQS).
  • Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a graduation diploma from an accredited Community College specializing in a life science or laboratory science technician program or Bachelor of Science degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, food science of other science discipline.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment (work or school).
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, chemistry, microbiology, math and basic computer skills.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational and judgement skills.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills to follow instructions, review manuals and complete required documentation.
  • Must be able to lift heavy weights ( 20-50lbs).
  • Must have a satisfactory work, safety and attendance record.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced factory environment.
  • Must be able to work shift work.
  • Must be able to pass a Qualification Certification Process (QCP). Testing will involve verbal, written and hands-on operation of equipment and machinery.
